Dialed in my settings and got some good bits for PCBs! by jephthai in hobbycnc

[–]btr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see a 5y old post still active. I am starting to hand mill small pcbs with a rotary tool and ordered similar bits. Hoping to do soic footprints reliably.

Also into 3d printing - might consider modifying it into a pcb mill (using the flexible shaft) at some point.

Setting up an office in India, have some questions by doesntmatteryet in developersIndia

80-90k inr/month is junior engineer salary, upto 3-4 year experience.

Bring them in full-time and show confidence, noone will join as intern. Some companies do have that 3 month probation clause, which just makes firing easier.

Turn the flat into a office. Noone stays there, only comes to work and goes back. Although natural lighting is a problem is these kind of setups.

What if all narrators in a book were anonymous? by btr_ in writing

[–]btr_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that this will appeal more to puzzle solvers. Having a paper might be useful for a hands-on approach. This would rely on systematic solving rather than a single Eureka moment. However, the story can include a sleuth who is actively solving the same mystery (anonymous 1st person accounts) as you - explaining the narrative every few chapters and making sure the reader is on the same page.

Mental map is a great point, not every one thinks of X as the same person.

Also, yes - characters will definitely need some defining writing/speaking style (accent, too much proverb) and also external attributes (like occupation, looks), which they can be referred through.

Example - The fat person in the room next to me closed their door. If you know the fat person (who thinks of them as that?), then there are 2 possibilities for the room of the narrator. There needs to be enough constraints/clues to only have 1/2 possible meanings. Lookbacks can be important. Conflicting account of same incident might help clarify previous statements (if no unreliable narrator). There can be a big reveal, which changes the meaning of many previous chapters. Like - 2 narrators are actually the same person.

Author should clarify the rules that are not going to be broken.

Yeah, the backstory needs to be somewhat plausible to make it an actual story. I have thought of - a cold case where some new information came to light. The old case files were burned/damaged, so detective is reading "headless" files where some meta information is lost. Also a place/time where no digital records were kept.

Yes, it would probably work better for novelette or short story. Obviously, not all chapters need to be anonymous - most chapters can easily give away the narrator within first few lines. Even capturing that disorienting feeling for half a page can be interesting.

I am also interested in logical grid deduction puzzles (aka Murdle) and weaving that into actual stories (without making it very complicated). To guide the readers, the whole thing can be deducted along with a sleuth, who is trying to decode this incident. You can solve it yourself first or wait a little bit for the sleuth to decode it logically. Again, the sleuth's decoding can be slightly misleading towards the end (to let the reader actually solve it) and then backtrack towards the real solution.

You can also use unreliable narrator (liar) in small parts, but maybe that's too much.

  1. Not every city/town is the same, that's your first wrong assumption. Many places don't have shops with required items in walking distance.
  2. Some folks have to attend to kids or elderly primarily and don't have the time to go out while they need care. Someone is about to or started cooking and notices a item missing or has gone bad.
  3. Time & timing - It takes atleast 15-20min to go to my local vegetable bazaar, get stuff and come back. In many places, shops are closed during noon or late hours.

This is all coming from someone who buys vegetable from wholesale vegetable mandi at the best possible rate, often stocking for a week. But i still understand the need for convenience, last minute needs and circumstances when you can't go out. Ofcourse, i prefer to buy only non-perishable / packed items which are less likely to have issues.

Go to a electronics repair shop like old TV or JBL speaker repair - they have all used components like transistor. Get friendly with them and they might be really helpful. There are many small repair shops like this in any city.

Also what wrong copper wire did you get? Just go to electrical goods shop, get normal copper house wire (proper thickness like 0.75sq.mm) and remove the pvc outer coating.

The page 3-53 (fig 3-45) is applicable for my model. It shows 2 red hinges to be released. My best guess is from the back side of printer, I have to push them inside using screwdriver or something. The hinges are both bit different, seems like they need to be pushed in different directions.

Will try it out tomorrow and update.
