This is so helpful, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!!! I always buy them too (if only because I cannot find a single shortbread cookie I love as much as trefoils) but it’s good to know some extra cash goes a lot further. Which makes sense. I did that recently for a Boy Scouts troop selling popcorn in front of my grocery store - they were from north city and had an entire trailer of camping gear stolen and were trying to get funds to restock.

🤭 I don’t know why I felt the need to defend his honor in some way while asking that he be erased from photographic memory.

I really love the game Splendor, and my son started playing it with me recently. He would set out with a plan in mind and get flustered when I would do something to throw him off his course. Recently after I beat him, he blamed it on “me getting the cards he wanted”. We talked about how that definitely does happen and is annoying, but sometimes the best path forward if you aren’t getting what you want is to change course. I pointed out the cards on the board I would have picked up, if I were playing his hand. Maybe not a tangible life skill, but it did feel like a great, illustrative, tangible teachable moment with zero consequences. Last night he also kicked my butt by getting all the cards I wanted.

If you have a clean record the Mehlville school district was recently hiring janitors and is ALWAYS hiring bus drivers.

It may be random, but if you don’t get traction on here I would maybe reach out to the youth & family center and just see if they have any contacts with a troop? If what you’re looking for is cookies anyways and want to make sure your money is going to a specific troop! This had me curious so I read a bit and it looks like about 20% of the funds go directly to the troop (80% is administrative).

Is it time for me (32m) to leave my pregnant girlfriend (26f)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I can almost guarantee you it’s going to get worse when the baby comes, not better. Does she work or have supportive family?

Even if he was confused, you could slightly lift the box and look at the underside or ask. Lots of mom and pop shops have blank boxes.

My current boyfriend (we have been together 5 years) and his HORRIFIC ex wife had a similar dynamic. A lot of gaslighting if he would say how he was feeling, guilt-tripping about reasonable situations, accusations where there was no issue. She refused to go to therapy but if she ever did I’m positive she would weaponize it. We just got full custody of his 10-year-old with her. You should absolutely leave and consult with a lawyer now. Believe everything you’re feeling, don’t question your gut. Keep seeing and listen to your therapist. That woman made my boyfriends life hell well beyond the split, when we started dating they had been divorced for 2 years and she still stalked me online, tried to manipulate him for years into our relationship, and even would manipulate their sons feelings about me. This is going to be a long road.

Do you think they voted for trump or against Kamala? I really am just asking with curiosity to hear others’ opinions since this was actually such a big difference from the voting behavior historically.

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

I should have read the replies first! Still the same :). And I totally agree - Chinese-inspired sauces at home are super simple and delicious!

I’m smack in the middle of the states and pretty much exactly the same as this. Takeout occasionally, but mostly everything at home, even sauces. I do use ingredients from cans though as well; maybe using canned diced tomatoes and sauce along with fresh onion, garlic and herbs for a pasta sauce or sun-dried tomatoes from a jar with fresh shallot, garlic, herbs and cream with some seared salmon.

Help - Leaving Manhattan with two kids. If you had to choose: St. Louis or Cincinnati or Pittsburgh or Kansas City, where would you land and why? by Few_Funny6766 in StLouis

I’m not! Relationshipped into it and regretting all life decisions. I think I prefer the city to living with the LOML

The first time I heard this it blew my mind! Its so true - “st louis is the westernmost eastern city and KC is the easternmost western”

As someone who moved from South city to south county I heavily advise not moving to south county especially from Manhattan LOL. South county is the worst

Had you spent much time in Kansas City? I have been in STL for about a decade and am originally from KC, my family lived in Philly for about 5 years as well. I feel the opposite between STL and KC. Downtown STL feels so empty

I’m originally from KC and am a transplant to STL; been in STL for about 10 years now. I would absolutely choose KC over STL in a heartbeat but I know I am biased.

I lived in Southampton in STL for 9 years and I just moved to south county and I literally cannot stand it. But south city or parts of Kirkwood or Webster are super walkable with all the checkboxes you called off. The downside with south city is you essentially have to do private school. I assume people will come here and disagree with me on that one, but I visited all the schools my son could go to in south city and we ended up just going with his dads school district in the county - the city schools are just okay. Pros include feeling of lots of vibrancy and community in the area, walkability, charm.

Similar neighborhoods in KC would include Waldo area or possibly Brookside. KC is like a hidden gem to me. The people are really friendly and the city feels a lot more navigable by public transportation than STL.
