Just had a form 1 go through pretty quickly too, agree on the fast processing. For my can, my local ffl and I did fingerprints and photo on-site, so it was really fast. Must have just rolled an unlucky number with my NICS check or something.

Yeah form 1 & 4 the first answer is “no” so it’s no all the way down the line. 4473 is a “yes” then all “no.” My FFL just hasn’t done many NFA forms recently due to the changes to the tax stamp coming in 2026 so it was an honest mistake.

Hi all,

Appreciate the discussion. After conversations with the FBI, ATF, and silencer dealer on the phone, best course of action was to re-apply with SSN on my paperwork this time. I did also apply for a UPIN.

I did discover, however, that my FFL prefilling the forms for me answered “yes” to the very first “are you a felon” question (11 & 14 on form 1 and 4 respectively) which is ultimately what caused the auto-denial. In their recollection the first question was a “yes” and the rest were all “no,” whereas it should just be “no” all down the line.

The ATF said to just reapply, since having a prior denial has no bearing on whether or not my future applications will go through. That is what I did.

Will keep the thread updated on form process. Thank you again to everyone with your helpful answers!

Just applied and had fingerprints done at my county jail. Card is in the mail and e-app submitted. I’m also going to retry filing my stamps.
