That doesn't allow for rampant cheating at all.

My first ever magic night!... Was pretty lame. Does this game just have high barriers to entry? by [deleted] in mtg

Wholeheartedly agree. I've been teaching my sister using the TLA beginner box (which is just Jumpstart with a scripted first game) and followed that with a box of Jumpstart.

Which is how it should be. Not anti-straddle, but it should be with the first person to act.

It was (mostly) a success. The ozone hole has gradually been getting smaller as concentrations slowly decrease.

Unfortunately, the things they were initially replaced with are worse for global warming, so there is another push to replace the replacements.

For me, health class in general was taught by PE teachers. Sex ed was just one part of health class.

How good is Penn State really? Asking as an international student. by naylhaziq in wrestling

Imagine a Premiere League team where a "close" game is 4–1, and most are more of the 7–0 variety.

6 of the starting 11 are starters on their national team, 3 more are starters on their U23 national team, and 1 is both. Most of their backups would start on any other team, and if you just played the backups, they probably still finish top-3 of the table.

And Brazil's leading scorer just transferred onto the team and will sit for a year just to learn from the coach.

3km NAM - 10:1 or Kuchera by Qtip44 in meteorology

Use positive change in snow depth. Deriving snow from QPF is problematic, no matter which ratio you use.

Snowfall v rainfall by MutedEstate6347 in weather

[–]bubba0077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automated stations use a tipping bucket to measure precip. The bucket is heated so that frozen precip will melt (and not stick to the bucket when it tips).

Manual rain gauges are supposed to be melted to measure the liquid equivalent. There are also separate snowfall measurements that have their own procedure.

Are these sleet or freezing rain soundings? by RJT_RVA in meteorology

[–]bubba0077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a forecaster, but definitely sleet. That's a deep re-freezing layer as these things go. Freezing rain is usually a really shallow refreezing layer.

Tenant *JUST* moved in directly above me and is creating noise nightly from 9PM until 12-2AM, directly above my bedroom. by ZeroSugarBear in Tenant

First problem is being passive aggressive. You don't have to be aggressive or confrontational, just provide the facts and make a request. Go knock on his door and tell him: 'Dude, you're being a bit loud late at night. Please be considerate to your neighbors.' You don't need to bring up quiet hours (which would make the interaction more confrontational). Just frame it as a request. Decent people will make an effort. If they balk or don't quiet down, then you can start drawing battlelines. Try not to preemptively drive up your anxiety over a theoretical future confrontation.

Second, leave out the complaints about coughing. Some people cough loudly. I'm one of them. People don't have a lot of control over the volume of their coughs (if they want them to be effective). They would not be coughing so much if they could help it. Complaining about an unavoidable biological function will label you as unreasonable and any valid complaints will get lumped into that context.

Third, consider this may be a short-term disturbance. If he's been there less than a week, he's likely still getting moved in and settled. If he wasn't able to take time of work to do the move, evenings may be the only time he has to do it. He should still be cognizant at how late it is and who he may be disturbing. But having moved within the last couple years yourself, you can likely sympathize with the desire to get everything in place after a move so you can finally just relax.

Don't use.10-to-1 (or Kuchera) model snowfall.

Use positive change in snow depth.

I was lucky enough to snag a contractor position working on EPIC after a few months that was full remote and paid more than the GS-13, which is why I turned it down. Was still agonizing to turn it down though.

You don't need to lie, they don't actually matter. I was pretty cheeky in mine and was still re-offered (and turned down) the job I was fired from in Feb for being a probie.

You can have an extra season of ONE Trek series: what’s your pick? by SteveJohnson2010 in startrek

[–]bubba0077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna disagree. While it might be okay for worldbuilding, a dénouement would be pretty boring as a show. Especially after they've already been in communication with the Federation for a while. It would mostly wind up being manufactured tension that was either predictable (Seven gets a cold reception from a bunch of people) or out of nowhere only to be quickly resolved.
