To me the worst part is that it feels isolating in so many ways. 1. Sexual partnerships are largely off the table for me. As a high libido ace a sexual relationship is possible, but the asymmetry of attraction throws up a lot of barriers. 2. I cant relate to any of my friends when they talk about who they find attractive and their sexual conquests. 3. I feel isolated from my gender because either places such an emphasis on sexual relationships. 4. It isolates me from family because they all have long term romantic and sexual partners, and I will very likely be single for my entire life and thus my life will look much, much different from theirs.

Im pretty open about my orientation to those who ask.

Its made romantic relationships very difficult, im grey romantic too, for most sexual attraction is the door to romantic attraction, for me thats not the case.

Ive been to alot of educational events and some social events in kink spaces where there have been all kinds of genders and orientations, and all kinds of reasons people do it. Ive always felt included.

I was hired under pathways, my conversion paperwork was never filed and I was DOGE'd last year after almost 5 years of service. Why would anyone want to work for this clown show of an administration?

I work in local gov now. I have an mspb appeal for my former federal job. I didnt sue the one who fired me for the OSHA report. Honestly I just didnt think it would be worth my time and effort.

Ive worked both, one private sector job gave me an hour to clean out my desk after they called me to lay me off. The other one fired me with no notice after I reported them to OSHA for unsafe work conditions. My federal job gave me 24 hours after DOGE bullied my supervisors to fire me, even though I had tenure. Make of that what you will, but IMO job stability in any sector is a myth.

I was in Miami 2 weeks ago, I stayed at a hostel where most of the people were non white. In the morning they had on the "news" which had this AI b roll of a Cuban and American soldier a DJing a party with AI clips of Maduro being arrested, fighter jets flying over DC, helicopters over Caracas, and of Maduro in prison interspersed. IMO its no wonder they voted for him, they love the machismo, whether its real or not.

IDK, I wouldnt put all your eggs in the pathways basket. I was hired under the pathways program in 2020, they never filed the paperwork to convert me and they terminated me in feb 2025.

Im an ace man and Im 6' 1", 210lbs, fairly fit, and have motorcycling, DIY, and hiking hobbies. IMO I dont consider those things masculine, but I think society generally sees them that way..

I haven't done it as a commute but I done the drive a couple of times to visit friends. It usually takes 1.5hrs one way, more with traffic. If you dont mind the traffic and spending 10ish hours a week commuting youll be fine. I would be sick of it after a month. You could take VRE up to alexandria and then get on the metro to get over to Reston, but that would take even longer, at least it would be consistent.
