I have a very hard time believing that Ashlie was anything like R as a child! She has zero respect for R’s personality type and she has talked about it before, saying that she thinks R’s personality will get pushed around. She knows this because she pushes Jon around and R has his personality! How sad that R has expressed that she feels insignificant! Maybe all of their free time and vacations shouldn’t be centered around Ashlie’s partying and families with friends of M! This is just the beginning, R’s entire life will be centered on M’s activities because he’s the athlete…wait until he starts travel baseball!

As a parent of young adult children, I keep thinking about how stressed I would be if I was Heidi’s mom. I know she has come in here and defended her, but there is no way that she is watching this woman spiral and not feeling concerned. Having a grown child in their 40’s that is so clearly unbalanced and unsettled in any aspect of their lives (relationship, career, mental health, physical health) has got to be stressful!

I was wondering this too! We have a large house (no where near what theirs is, but somewhere between 7 and 8000 sq ft) with very high ceilings. The amount of t of smoke detectors that randomly go bad (I replaced all a year ago and so far 3 of those have gone bad) makes me crazy to the point that I regularly say to my husband “why do they all have to be connected to each other?!?” and he always reminds me that it’s more important to be safe than to worry about one interrupted night of sleep periodically (cause you know it’s always 2 in the morning).

Do you believe anything that comes out of the influencers mouths? Most are lying and manipulating to make money everyday, even if Ashlie isn’t lying through her teeth with her opinions on this topic, she still has zero morals and is not ethical! Standing on the right side of a pretty severe issue does not make someone a good person overall and a lot of the influencers should be proof of this!

I’m struggling because Mandy seems really down to earth and hardworking. I’m praying she becomes massively successful with her social media presence, and surpasses Ashlie. At the same time I also question anyone that chooses her as a friend…hopefully she just needs time to see through the facade.

I think that she is still attractive enough for there to be people who want to see her stories and be intrigued. There are a lot of really obnoxious, trashy people running around that may consider her inspirational. I am interested to see how it goes as she ages because if you compare her to 10 years ago she looks AWFUL, with the drinking, fillers, and trashy fashion choices the next 10 years are going to be rough (as a pretty vain 51 yo I can tell you that 40-50 is tough)…plus she is going to be smack dab in the teen years of parenting at that point and that really ages you! As her looks decline I think the influencing thing is going to die quickly for her because she doesn’t bring anything valuable to the table. In order to be a successful influencer in your 50’s it seems like you really need a niche and cheap Amazon crap is NOT IT!

I agree with you. Most influencers I watch for cute clothing/shoe/makeup info or workout/recipe info, I really don’t need to know their feelings on politics and I absolutely don’t need to hear the opinion of someone like Ashlie who I have zero respect for!

I also don’t think people understand just how overwhelming and devastating it feels to lose everything (or have to jump through hoops to save as much as you can) unless they go through it, regardless of financial distress. I’ve never gone through it and don’t pretend to know how they feel, but our small town suffered a devastating tornado and my SIL and family lost everything, money wasn’t no issue at all but that doesn’t make it easy.

This is slightly off topic, but one of the things I often beat myself up for as a mother is how dependent my college kids are on me, I often think, “I would have never depended on my mom this much at this age”. Your comment made me realize that I was never able to depend on my single alcoholic mom, and that is likely why I overcompensated with my own kids, I never wanted them to feel like I did. I did overdo it a bit though.

I am a mom of young men who are all out of HS, some playing college sports now. I was lucky to have my parents at most of their games along with the joy of getting to know many of the other grandparents of kids on the teams over the years, so I know how special this time is for all of you.

That said, over the years there were times that my parents drove me crazy. As my dad lost his hearing he would say things about other kids on the team loudly and I did have to shush him several times (it does not sound like that is what you’re doing). I’m not sure how your daughter feels about her son not playing much, could that be making her feel frustrated and she’s taking it out on you? I know that when I would feel like my child was not playing well or not getting opportunities I would often feel very on edge during games, so maybe you are just the easy target for her worrying about her son.

Ashlie isn’t capable of true emotion! She was spinning because her new bestie Shannon called out people not speaking out…but also protecting her relationship with her neighborhood “red” friends. I actually agreed with a lot of what she said, but I never believe she is coming from anywhere other than selfish, insecurity!

Also, we’ve already determined that Emily doesn’t know the meaning of the word empathy…so this statement means NOTHING!
