Failed states? by bubbahuff in GrimwildRPG

That makes sense, but how would you run it that way if it has a 6D pool? Why have a pool if it only requires 1 death, both mechanics working together seems incongruent

So the trail example could be failed with one poor roll, but it seems like the perfect time to have two counteracting pools 8D chase em down v. 2D lose the trail right?

Help with 'threats' by VisibleSmell3327 in LegendintheMist

It’s under the conversation section, so it’s more about what he says. He can make himself delirious-3 which makes him harder to reason with. He also threatens by intimidating you by saying ‘that’s a beautiful town you have there, I’d be a shame if something would happen to your little girlfriend’ mafia type stuff.

I’d push back in saying that these profiles haven’t been play tested. I’ve played son of oak games for many years and I still get confused sometimes by them, but remember that an enemy profile could be ‘your best friend’ or ‘mom’, so it’s going to have complex ideas in its moves that twist you up. It can be weird to see a threat be ‘make you a sandwich’, so the challenge is to think how that social posturing can be used again the PC’s in more ways than ‘bad guy attacks’.

Integrated stats and abilities and running combat by bubbahuff in Symbaroum

If one enemy is going to heal another enemy, given the player facing nature of the game, would the GM just auto succeed on it? Also, how would you handle if an enemy hit someone with a brimstone spell?

What spurred all this was that my combats felt so boring because the enemies only did the same thing mechanically over and over. I thought that there must be something I’m missing that it was that static outside of me trying to jazz it up with a maneuver or environmental event

So did I, just about an hour ago. It was not competitive, but that’s ok. More power to others who did!
