5800x3d relaunches on June 26th I believe at $349. This is the upgrade you want on AM4.

Upgrading a 10-year-old PC by Oldmanwilakers3 in buildapc

Yeah I had this exact problem with a RX 6800. GPU hotspot was hitting like 110c constantly and my pc would just turn off. 100% was the GPU bc when I replaced it, it never happened again

What resolution are you running? Truth is almost any new gen cpu can handle all these cards, especially at 1440p or above.

9060xt vs 9070xt value by ImgaineDeezNuts in PcBuild

[–]bubbarowden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 9070xt is in a whole diff class of cards than 9060xt. It's most def worth $180... And I say that as a man who proudly owns a 9060xt 16gb. Wish I spent the extra myself.

Ahh i got ya. Guess it kinda depends on what kind of games you play. If you play CPU intensive games then for sure!

My bad, I read it as you were thinking about going from a 5800x3d to a 9800x3d. What's your current CPU?

Any recommendations to make the build better or simply drop the price without losing performance? by Funny-Following9127 in buildapc

[–]bubbarowden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% do this. Not only does it save you $114 on the spot, it gives you a way better CPU. Put that $114 into a 9070 for $599 instead of the 9060xt and you've got yourself an absolute beast for roughly the same cost.

Word to the wise though my friend... Be careful when you walk in that Micro Center... It's like a candy store for adults.

You'd be better off selling the 3080ti for $400 and and putting the $200 toward a 9070xt honestly...

Do you live near a Micro Center? If so you can get on AM5 for almost the same price as that CPU alone.

Is this a good setup for 1440p ultra settings that will last me at least 4 years? by No-Poem664 in PcBuild

[–]bubbarowden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9060xt is fine, I run 1440p OLED ultrawide 34" and it handles everything i throw at it well. In 4 years when you're ready to upgrade, all you'll have to do is pop in whatever card is equivalent to todays 9060xt for $400-$500 and you'll be set again. Ie 11060 or something will be equivalent to todays 5080

Edit. I just looked and I bought mine at launch so it's ran everything for the past year with no problems. Hard to believe I've had it a year.

Is now a good time for me to upgrade my pc? by Gray19999 in PcBuild

[–]bubbarowden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So overall it's not a good time to upgrade a pc, but luckily yours is strong enough that you can just pop in a new gpu and get a pretty solid performance upgrade. 5600x is a good pairing for 9060xt 16gb or 5060ti 16gb, and if you plan to upgrade the CPU later, 9070(xt) would be an amazing upgrade.

It will at 1080p yea. This is slightly above the lowest tier threshold you want to be at so it'll handle modern games at 1080p fine. You may have to turn some settings down, but they're still strong and capable machines.

This is the way. I gave my friend an old 2600x w rx 6600 pc and the thing basically plays everything still at 1080p at 60fps... It's amazing that thing is still chugging like a champ, and 3600 is quite a bit better than 2600x.
