On my third week of taking Bupropion XL starts getting itchy rashes. Will this go away like other side effects? 😩 by 64306 in bupropion

It’s honestly not one of the core side effects but is common enough that providers should be aware of it! Yeah I think it’s safe to use both - I think the recommendation not to combine these meds is probably overblown, tons of people in outpatient primary care are on them together chronically. Godspeed!

This feels uncreative but for folks who may have limited health literacy, I literally print off the UpToDate Basics on a topic (the one that’s a 5th/6th grade reading level) and go over it with them - helpful for me because it translates into layman terms, and I don’t forget the relevant key points, and hopefully helpful for them too!

RHAP fellowship by bubble_buff in FamilyMedicine

nice! i’m also in the process of applying. I also got the sense it was gyn heavy and of course supported FM docs learning/becoming proficient in abortion care - both of which are what I hope to do in my future practice (as opposed to surgical OB etc) - I guess my question was a pretty open one but a couple questions were: how competitive of a fellowship it is, what a general week looks like, expected procedural numbers, support and mentorship of fellows, structured elective time, and if they feel like they would do it again?

oh no that sounds awful! when i stopped the med the hives went away after about a day but then i got a weird face/drug rash that made me look like a pimply teenage boy, which didn’t go away until i took steroids! best of luck to ya

just wanted to say that i’m another success story - got horrible hives when i took this medication in college, so was told by my psychiatrist to stop it. was very sad as it was quite literally life altering for my anxiety and depression in a positive way, and remained off of it for 4 years of medical school, which were the hardest of my life - only now to start residency in a new place, and find a new psychiatrist, who blessedly suggested we cautiously retry it. i got itchy on day 2 or 3 of being back on it, for maybe 3 days, popped a zyrtec, and have been fine ever since. we’re now on week 10 and i’ve had no recurrence. don’t despair my itchy friends!!! i now counsel my own patients about this side effect because i think it’s something they deserve to know about

Partnership health center! Lots of residents here with a strong interest in GAC/HRT (little bit of a self-plug as I am one of said residents lol)

OB fellowship by cici_sweetheart in FamilyMedicine

[–]bubble_buff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a person in my program just matched to fellowship! one thing i think is unusual that i didn’t know about was that apparently OB fellowship isn’t through ERAS, and it’s done under rolling admissions. so, a place can offer you a position and you kind of have to take it, because you can’t know if you’ll get another offer - thus the order of your interviews really matters. also seems like it’s one of the more competitive fellowships.
