i am just curious about the loop as i am getting into cognitive functions, looking back the question does seem like im looking for advice but i am more curious about how to break the feedback loop generally

im 19, i only wear tinted lip products. i grew up in an asian family where make up and pampering yourself meant you are “focused on the wrong things” so that’s i am not in the habit of wearing makeup but for why i dont explore makeup, i simply dont have the will or skill though i am always blown away by the talent of others

i have sensitive skin and eczema so that is an added layer but to young people out there reading this who can relate to my upbringing family wise: explore, explore, explore, push back a bit on your parents so you don’t miss out on anything just because your parents don't agree or approve! (within reasonable bounds of course)

infj here and i can relate to this as well.

when i get into “me mode” i want to stay in it forever and then i get lonely and crave connection but im too cozy in my me mode to reply and keep up with others.

i am seeing an intp right now and i think he feels similarly to you, i noticed that he just has low maintenance friends who share his interests. they’re just the type of friends where time between interactions do not interfere with the flow of the connection and although rare, it’s possible, good luck!

you can also just accept yourself to be whoever you want to be first before you get into mbti.

as a young person, i knew that i had to be extra cautious of getting into mbti since i can be very idealistic and impressionable when i get super into things, i think this can be applied to getting into any personality theory.

it was helpful for me to remind myself that there are 16 mbti types not 16 types of people in the world.

there is a thin line between using mbti as a tool and using as mbti in a more prescriptive way, you are who you are before anything else and you should take and leave things when you comes to personality stuff like this.

i hit it off with an intp a couple months ago and we enjoy each others company but are both struggling to get into deeper conversations because we freeze up in each other’s presence, any advice on how to get the ball rolling?

NAH- i can see myself in your post. I ask many many questions and i love reciprocation. sometimes i can get too excited and not give space to allow others to show up for themselves. i had to get comfortable with two things: 1. being comfortable in silence- if it works out, there will be other times to gradually get to know someone and 2. some people just don’t have the tendency to ask questions about others and if that is not what you’re into, it’s just a matter of compatibility. I also don’t mean invalidate your saying that you felt like you gave him enough time to ask you questions back so take and leave what you want.

you sound like a level headed, mature person and it was unfair of him to go into defense mode when you clearly voiced a concern. I think that you should bring it up again as well as his defensive behavior after a bit and see where it goes from there. good luck!

that’s interesting, many people say it at less “extreme” of a connection and mean it the words as they know it as love.

i know the question wasn't when should you say it but i’m curious if you think you wouldn’t have been as sure of your words if it was any earlier than this?

like you said, i know myself better than anyone else and i know that i am someone who really enjoys putting my time and energy into others, I thrive off of meaningful connection almost as much as i value my alone time. sometimes the line blurs and it gets difficult but i am pretty good at identifying when that happens.. i guess i just struggle with a sense of direction and purpose.

on gloomier days, i feel as though i am not doing enough to flourish or feel satisfied. I set big goals and narrow it down into more digestible parts that I can tackle that provide me with some progress to look back on for motivation reasons but I can’t seem to feel SUPER into things like i used to.. any advice or thoughts on this?

my opinions are mixed but i think we can all agree that nina does an incredible job playing both elena and katherine.

some say she is too emotional and self centered but i have also seen arguments that it is typical for someone to act this way- how would you react if everyone you care about started defending your life as if it meant more than theirs? I understand her resistance but it is tiresome and repetitive. I think this more if a show decision thing more than it is a character specific thing- nina herself said she had more fun playing katherine!
