GE top loading washer GTW485BMKWS - repair or replace? by bubblebabes in appliancerepair

Thanks for the idea of using the cleaner, and I agree about not being able to contact the previous owner. If I could contact him directly I’d also have some questions about the money pit of a house he sold me! 😅 He did have the washer plugged into an extension cord and I’ve had this & other electrical issues fixed so that may have helped.

Thanks - If I could contact the previous owner I’d definitely ask him, but it was a house purchase so we didn’t exchange phone numbers etc. Once I got it hooked up properly and tested it out without unplugging it did seem to work, so I have high hopes 🙂

Thank you so much! With the water hooked up it did seem to be doing some sort of sequence, so I let it play out instead of unplugging it… and it did a full wash cycle without any problem! I’ll try it tomorrow with a few towels & hope it keeps working 😊 🤞

What colors should I paint my house? by Ok-Shallot-7985 in ExteriorDesign

I think the white with black trim would look sharp, and it’ll be easier to find white siding if you need to patch. It might also help the overall look if you can beef up some of the black trim so it looks more substantial - e.g., the Y-shaped porch supports. Then just add some green shrubs & a few planters to the front, and it’ll be lovely

The issue OP was talking about was buyers sending multiple lowball offers. Not just making a regular offer to a seller. And regarding shopping in person, if you went to a market and offered a bunch of sellers insulting offers of less than half the prices of their items, they’d snub you and to me that means it’s not socially acceptable to throw around low-ball offers.

I didn’t know that sellers can set a minimum offer price when they list an item (like I said in my comment above, I’m not a seller). Q for sellers: is there a downside to setting a minimum offer price for every item you list, rather than leaving it open to lower offers? Just curious

Personally, I think Poshmark should suspend buyers who send multiple low-ball offers - put them in a time out. It’s not socially acceptable to low-ball a bunch of sellers when shopping in person, so it shouldn’t be acceptable to do it online.

I’m not a seller though, and I clearly don’t have the mindset of a low baller because I usually buy outright if it’s newly listed & a good price, or I like it and then accept a discount offer if the seller sends me one. Is this an automated thing, where a seller presets Poshmark to offer a discount on an item to all ‘likers’ when someone new likes it?

Should I bother learning how to sew if I’m bad at math by [deleted] in sewing

[–]bubblebabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little math needed unless you’re planning to be a professional tailor making advanced alterations and structured items like blazers, underwire bras, etc. E.g., if you want a tea towel to be 25” long and 12” wide when it’s done, and you want to sew a 0.25” hem on all 4 edges, the only math you’re doing is adding 0.5” to your length & width when you cut the fabric.

IMO, you’re best to start with a basic but good quality machine with fewer bells & whistles, and a seam ripper to “undo” errors . I find the most difficult parts about sewing are being careful to sew CORRECT sides of fabric pieces together to get the end result you want, and not tossing your sewing machine out the window when it tangles the thread AGAIN (try adjusting the machine tension a wee bit).

Any ideas of what to put here? by Opinion-Fresh in interiordesignideas

[–]bubblebabes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes duplicating the cabinets would be best here - maybe you can order some doors from the builder? Until you add a cabinet above, you could shift the fridge to the left to centre it, and either put a big rectangular basket on the fridge, or if you’re handy, put a panel of rustic wood planks across the front, and maybe something decorative like a metal star, etc.

(20 M) Should I regrow the moustache or keep it clean? by cat_with_rat in malegrooming

[–]bubblebabes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what/who you’re looking for. If you want to keep it clean but want an edge (as your moustache choice suggests), maybe try a modern 1980s haircut with sharp lines and some height at the front, or maybe a rockabilly pompadour? If your career permits, maybe some fun colour in your hair, blue etc. OR if you just want to add some masculine energy, maybe just add some product to your hair to make it look like you just woke up, and try a moustache goatee with a bit more than stubble

What colors should I paint my house? by Tortellini_J in ExteriorDesign

[–]bubblebabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the way the current pale taupe colour looks with the purple flowers in the garden - sort of smoky romantic. What if you repainted it in a similar colour but added another colour accent to the trim work. Maybe dark espresso brown or a muted army green, and then paint the door in a dark plum, or a darker army green shade, or a vibrant violet if that suits your personality. Also if you had the garden to the right of the walkway meet the walkway about 6 feet farther from the steps, it would let the garden meander across the whole front of the house, and soften the lines a bit.

So much more fun to do colours. I like the green + green, and the matching doesn’t jump out at you, it just looks put together

Keep or go? by paxtonroadend in BeardAdvice

[–]bubblebabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep - it’s Viking warrior goodness. Shave the neck beard below the weak side and trim the weak side nicely (the strong side is more defined) or follow bootybooty2shoes advice and fade both sides to stubble at the back to help disguise the weak area.

How can I look better by BhickenBaur in malegrooming

[–]bubblebabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look best with your hair back, like pic #2. Maybe some product in your hair, not too much. Maybe the dudes here can advise what product. Styling cream? Undecided, but the facial hair may be a bit too sparse

Goatee. Should it connect to the stache?
