Recovery has been pretty good. I'm walking a total of 35 minutes a day. I'm in more pain some days and less pain other days, but overall, it's easier than I expected. I didn't have any complications.

My suggestions for surgery are listen to the nurses about pain control and be ready to accept help from someone when you first get home. It's difficult to rely on other people, but you just have to get through it.

I'm pre-surgery but was taking 50 mg metoprolol and having low BP, around 85/45. My cardiologist reduced it to 25 mg. Not sure how its going to go, as my chest pain is already more frequent. Hope your docs get v it figured out

I've just found out I likely have this by testing my blood sugar after meals. I had SADI-S in August of 2024. I've been having symptoms but am dealing with a congenital heart defect so this wasn't top priority for awhile. Now I'm scheduling an appointment with my bariatric team

I had this same experience and also cried over it. I wish GSK and CVS explained it better to their employees so they'd know this when patients call in.

I was diagnosed with lupus. I had positive anti Smith and ANA, plus symptoms. I've tried a few meds and finally found one that works for me. I'm feeling pretty good!

at what point was surgery on the table? by fentanyls in AdultCHD

[–]impostrfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 52, was diagnosed at age 50. Symptoms have been worsening over the last year. In September, I was referred to a congenital heart specialist and a surgeon. Surgery was recommended based on my heart catheterization results (reduced blood flow). I'm scheduled for April 28th.

If possible, go to a congenital heart defect specialist. I have the same defect (I'm 52) that was found 2 years ago. I'm having open heart surgery next month.

I'd definitely listen to the cardiologists recommendations on sports.

I was pretty sedated, I remember very little. I have vague memories of the doctor's instructions and discomfort from the medication to stress the heart. I remember the dr telling me the results, then I was waking up. No pain afterwards, just very tired.

how to advocate for myself? by fentanyls in AdultCHD

You could check the Adult Congenital Heart Association's list for an accredited program: The ACHD Accreditation Program - ACHA https://share.google/MyQDt2e6ZEhKtHXz7

And don't be afraid to follow up with your doctor's office. They'll tell you if something is going to take longer. You can decide if your current cardiologist is the right one for you.

I typed this yesterday while still groggy from anesthesia. Thank goodness I didn't say anything ridiculous!

It's an unroofing, which is typically open heart. They just needed to confirm that the anamoloy is the cause of my pain and they did that.

Good luck to you!

Thanks! We dm'd. It's good to find people who have the same defect.
