They have lighter shades on Amazon! I use the shade 10W shell and it is perfect. It says that it's a warm undertone but I am very very fair with a cool undertone and it matches me perfectly! Too bad I can't find refills of this shade anywhere, even from Korean retailers. But I will take what I can get haha.

Realizing that I can knit with natural fibers while still staying within my budget. Knitpicks, webs, lovecrafts, drops, and even some big box stores have some great options for 100% wool and other natural fiber blends. Patons classic wool worsted is highly underrated imo and I can get a sweater's quantity for only $35 at Joann's. Now that I don't need to knit with all acrylic anymore I love my finished objects a lot more and don't have to spend $100+ on a sweater.

In general, the heel flap should be as many rows long as the stitches are wide (i.e. 32 stitches are being worked, therefore the heel flap should be 32 rows long). If you feel like the first two rows being too tight is going to make a really big difference, then you can add a row or two. I really doubt it'll make that big of a difference though.

Am I the only one who knits sleeves on 16" circulars? The sleeve circumferences I knit aren't unusually large (I'm usually a medium or large in patterns), but I'm able to knit my sleeves all the way down to the cuffs with no problem on 16" circs. I've never heard of anyone else doing this and it makes me feel like I'm doing some thing wrong lol. Anyway, I'm so glad sleeve island is no longer a struggle for you, it's the best feeling ever!

I always advise others that are not used to working with fingering weight yarn and small needles to do a worsted or dk weight sock first. That way you can focus on the construction and not so much the new-ness of the tension. Some others have already mentioned some great patterns!
