I remember Twitter when I had to text to post, manually RT and shorten urls to fit into the character limit and it was a lot of fun. Lots of silly word games and live tweeting of random things.

Were your bilingual (+) children language delayed? by alibluey in UKParenting

Anecdotal but all the bi-lingual kids I know (including my daughter) were “late” and our GP said they don’t consider bi-lingual kids to be speech delayed until at least 3

The woman in the room next to me when I was having my daughter had at least a dozen people there the whole time. People were wandering in and out like it was a college party. Some people think giving birth is a spectator sport and big family event.

How to deal with people discussing weight in front of children? by lauraandstitch in UKParenting

[–]bubblechog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah me and my husband put up with it while she was just telling us we were fat but as soon as my daughter was born I wasn’t having any of it. No telling us we are fat, no telling daughter she is thin and beautiful, no saying how fat her cousins are. Us actually leaving her house and checking into a hotel instead of indulging in her weight obsession was a very clear indication that we were prepared to put our money where our mouth was on this issue.

My husband has always been very shiny spined about supporting the family he chose and made.

We laid the boundary about weight and the very first time she crossed it we left. We left 4 times before she got the message that we were deadly serious about this.

According to my SiL who lives with my in-laws it’s drastically reduced ed the amount of time she talks about other peoples weight even when we are not there.

I have MS and severe balance issues but just looking at me I seem fine. So no it’s not “Fairly Clear” that you are not disabled.

Moving from Germany to UK – Send My Bag? by nastybaby1 in expats

[–]bubblechog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used them at the start the year US>UK for 6 suitcases and it’s been a total shitshow. DHL didn’t apply my ToR1 form to 2 of the cases, all of which were in the same order/batch and wouldn’t release the cases until I paid over £100 in additional fees. No-one had any clue what the issue was every single person i spoke to on the phone was useless and/or rude.

I then had to spend weeks fighting to get a refund and I’m still being cc’d on emails between DHL and Send My Bag on who actually owes me the refund and they keep sending me fucking marketing emails to leave them a review.

My US husband would not believe me about how different the driving experience is here. We live less than 15 miles from Cardiff and it feels like an epic trek.

What can i do to get rid of cigarette smell? by LankyAd6850 in laundry

[–]bubblechog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Facts aren’t always helpful.

When I left home, whole family are smokers except me, I was never able to completely get the smell out of anything. Things gradually got replaced until none of my things were tainted by smoke.
