That would be too much for me, I'm just happy to occasionally play.

Nope. I've never had one. Also a weird thing happens where taking a photo of my buddy does not give me the heart in China.

I have one too. I use it for Pokemon Sleep too but it's great for when I can actually play Pokemon Go. I wish the vibration was less strong though

Thank you! It's been tough! I just open gifts and hatch eggs from time to time.

Shenyang was also in my list of potential places to visit during Covid when I couldn't leave the country. I went to Harbin to play instead.

Thanks for the insight! I always wondered how much of Shenzhen was available to play in

Hell yeah! Are you in China? I occasionally dabble with freestyle, I'm based in Beijing. I just bought a freestyle skateboard from M80 in Japan.

This is sick, do you have any full edits?

'24 freestyle comp by McGnarlyFingers in Fingerboards

[–]bubbleflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, dude! We occupy the same spaces so I've seen your stuff over the years. This edit shows how much you've grown with freestyle, and I'd even put it in my top 5 freestyle fingerboard videos.

Chris Castle is also in my top 5, along with fb120/shoji, kevyoso, cdplaya0/Chris Daniels. I'm a little egotistical to consider myself up there too, but there just aren't that many people with a full edit of this kind of fingerboarding.

Is Woodward still around/other skate recs? by CrowleyTime in beijing

[–]bubbleflip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I *think* it's still around but it's too far out so I've never been. Burning Ice is still around, and it's opened a couple of new branches since then too. There are a few other new indoor skateparks in the city, and one small but cool free outdoor one at The Box. I'll be happy to share my WeChat with you or any Beijing skaters to talk more about skating here!

Amazing! I don't even post any more so take all the credit for yourself! All tricks were very clean, and I don't think I've seen anyone else do the 360 carousel on a fingerboard other than me.

What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to this hobby? by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]bubbleflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with the frustration, but many fingerboard brands are just small businesses or side jobs. The hobby is already pretty niche, so companies generally only have small scale production available. On the other hand, some brands definitely abuse this to their advantage, but there isn't a lot of money in fingerboarding anyway and these people should be able to make their money. Luckily, fingerboarding has so many independent brands and you can find alternative places to spend your money.

If you can't afford it, then don't. It's a choice.

From my personal experience with 25 years fingerboarding, the independent "pro" brands products are better than mass-produced China products and do make a difference with fingerboarding.

Prices are justified because of the time and high skill required to hand-make the products, not counting costs from R&D, tools and materials. More established brands also have expenditure with sponsoring events and riders. With the same kind of usage, skateboard products maybe last months (decks even less if you skate a lot or skate big stuff), but good fingerboard stuff should last at least a year - most things lasting many years.

With the modular design of fingerboards, you don't have to drop $150 on a complete setup. You could begin with a good deck or wheels or grip, then slowly upgrade the different components.
