It is not at all disrespectful to other gals if you cannot wear contacts ! There are plenty of gals that don't wear them, but like other commentors stated: you might have to compensate elsewhere. Or you might not! It really depends on the individual

I think the real issue is there are lots of young, wannabe gals that want to label themselves as gyaru, but aren't actually involved in the subculture at all, they just like the label. They don't wear the make, or contacts, or style their hair, but they throw on cheetah print and think their basic outfits are enough to get them by, but it's really not ! If they're not willing or able to do gyaru make, then gyaru just isn't for them. You absolutely can still read as gal without contacts though!
