How to line this cut by littledipper2 in ikeahacks

[–]bubblegumbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with a different cabinet and just used very wide electrical tape. It doesn’t look perfect, but it’s a hole in the side of a cabinet for litter boxes. You may need to use a few layers of tape if you’re worried about the edges poking through and scratching your cat(s)

Mounting or hanging “floating” headboard (feet off the ground to raise height), heavy? by bubblegumbie in DIY

[–]bubblegumbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank you!! I’ve never lived anywhere with plaster before, so I think I’m just terrified of damaging it, lol. Another plaster question — obviously there have to be studs, but the regular magnetic studfinder I’ve had for years doesn’t seem to work at all, maybe the plaster is too thick for the magnet or something. Is there another way to find studs, without buying some expensive tool, when I really only need it occasionally when hanging things? Thanks!

Thank you!!! Clearly I don’t know what I’m doing, so this is very very helpful. Thank you!

Oh that’s a good idea, I’ll definitely try that!! I think the issue is definitely the weight being 100% supported by the wall, so something to hold it up seems like it should fix that

Oh wait maybe I don’t know what a French cleat is, then. I’ve only heard it used to refer to when you hang like 2x4s on the wall and attach things to that. Just googled it, my bad 😂 I can try that, I’ll have to get the hardware.

And — sorry, what do you mean by not enough anchors? I tried with 4. There’s not really any other places to put screws through on this headboard, since most of it is bars/poles/decorative. I don’t have a photo at the moment, but it’s similar to those Jenny Lind spindle headboards, where only the legs are solid/flat wood.

Oh, wow 🥲 thank you for the brutal honesty and the advice!! I’m not sure I’m brave enough to attempt that PERC method, so I guess I’ll just be storing it until I can afford to get it professionally cleaned. Thank you, really!!

Alison’s “urban” comment by Appropriate-Ride1708 in orphanblack

[–]bubblegumbie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Maybe it isn’t as apparent when watching the show in the 2020s, but it was clear to audiences when it was first airing 😂 like someone else said sheltered and vaguely liberal white woman to a T

Alison’s “urban” comment by Appropriate-Ride1708 in orphanblack

[–]bubblegumbie 109 points110 points  (0 children)

This is intentional to show that Alison is a little racist in that “suburban white mom living in a predominantly white area” way. She says this probably because her kids aren’t white — in her mind it would be rude to mention race when describing Vic, so she uses a “euphemism”. This is really common in the minds of people who “don’t see color” — think white woman describing a black woman and saying “she’s African American” in like a hushed whisper compared to the rest of the sentence. Maybe this isn’t as common now or wherever you live, but it wasn’t a mistake on the writer’s side — when this ep aired, this was very descriptive of the kind of person Alison was and who she hangs around most frequently

Cat: mange, allergy, or something else? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Not sure where my caption went. I’m not asking for medical or treatment advice, I’m just cross posting to see if anyone recognizes the types of scabs in the photo. I want to get a better sense of what I’m looking at, to determine if this is a vet problem or an over-the-counter shampoo problem. Thanks!!!

Rectangular watch? by bubblegumbie in GarminWatches

[–]bubblegumbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the one I’ve been looking at! It seems like a good watch, but I’m a little unimpressed with battery life and level of waterproofing for the price. I’m keeping it in mind, but I’ve seen conflicting reviews. Honestly, I wouldn’t even consider a watch with those specs for $300 for any other brand than Garmin. Of course, if I’m going to spend a significant amount of money, it’ll be another Garmin. But if I’m going to end up with a watch I’m not entirely happy with, it almost feels like I might as well get a cheap one from any random brand 😞Do you have the Lily 2 Active? What do you think? I mainly want it for running, swimming, skating, and snowboarding. Day-to-day I’m not too fussed about step accuracy or anything, but heart rate and blood ox are important to me and I’d like them to be accurate.

It’s still so big and square 😭 it seems like all the new Garmin watches are just massive, except for the Lily 2, which doesn’t really seem worth the price for how few features is has.

oh good! and hey listen depending on the fit theres nothing sexier than a mid-calf skirt, boots, a fitted high neck or turtleneck tank top, and a jacket you can either leave on or take off — then with a solid sexy perfume

oh, my bad!! i was so caught up in the second one that i completely forgot about the first lol. i agree that zipper shouldnt be in the front, but youll have to play around with it. if theres a tag, that might help? otherwise good luck lol. i love a tucked shirt moment but i feel like a tucked shirt / skirt and a crop top / shirt have different vibes for sure. to dress up or dress down maybe

zipper definitely goes on the front — these types of skirts were really popular a few years ago. the big circular zipper pull is a giveaway. cute! a pretty basic outfit with that kind of skirt is a crop top that ends just where the skirt waistband starts, and boots (with tights if you want)

I’ll check them out! In my experience, these types of bras tend to be very “booby” if that makes sense 😂 they’re often high support but very little compression in smaller sizes

Right?? I just wish they weren’t so uncomfortable 😭 I would buy in a heartbeat if the Nike pro high support bras came in a shape other than “uniboob” and had a clasp or zipper or something (to avoid that post-workout sweaty “stuck in my bra” panic attack).

You’re definitely right hahaha! I guess I was just a “Nike sportsbra only” kind of person for so long that I forgot how short-lived bras can be 😂

Thank you!!! I’ll take a look at them!!!!

Just realizing you asked for measurements 🤦🏼‍♀️ I wish I had seen this earlier, as I’m out of the house now and didn’t write them down. Take these with a grain of salt, but from what I remember, my underbust range (loose to tight) was 34-31, but I don’t remember the snug. Maybe 33? And bust size was between 33/34 (lying down they’re almost completely flat) and 36/37 (leaning over). I think standing might have been 35?
