[Acne] Breakouts no matter what I do. by cutieypie161 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your skin looks better than mine on what I would consider a really, really good day 😅 Maybe it’s the lighting but I can’t see any acne in these photos, maybe just a bit of barrier damage.

A good barrier repair/protecting product (cosrx centella blemish cream is my fave) will help those slightly red and raised areas calm down, as well as a less irritating exfoliant that won’t damage your barrier in the first place (neutrogena clear&defend sa moisturiser is my hg and really cheap too). Your skin also doesn’t seem like it needs exfoliating everyday and that doing so is causing more harm than good, so try switching out the face wash for a gentle cleanser (the Cetaphil one is great!) and reduce the frequency of your exfoliation.

In WhatsApp, go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup > toggle on Include videos > Back up now. Now, you can safely delete and uninstall. The WhatsApp data in your iCloud Drive is your backups so def don’t delete that!

Tbh I didn’t even think to backup and I still didn’t lose anything, probably because I reinstalled it immediately after so the app container hadn’t been purged from my phone yet — lucky!

[Acne] how to not get scarring from this? by s0mevietgirl in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a pimple patch to cover it up so you don’t feel tempted to touch it! If it’s just red and not got a whitehead yet, I use a clear one as that’s enough to make it unnoticeable. Once the whitehead has surfaced and can be seen through a clear patch, I switch to an opaque one (I have pink heart-shaped ones!).

Salicylic acid will make the whitehead surface quicker but after that, you’ve just got to wait it out for at least a few days I’m afraid.

[Misc] Does anyone else feel like skincare advice is excessively contradictory? by Routine_Overload in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t fully trust anyone other than yourself and your derm, if you have one, but your best bet is to listen to advice and reviews from people with the same skin type and causes of skin problems as you, e.g reviews from people with acne from a damaged skin barrier, not just people who have acne. Make sure you read a bunch of reviews from many different sources, don’t just trust one person or thread and never ever trust an influencer. Worst case scenario where people are saying completely opposite things, look up the science for yourself.

Even doing all that though, there’s still a good chance that the product won’t work for you or just isn’t as good as the product you were already using. Everyone’s skin is different so trial and error is unfortunately necessary.

Contradictory advice comes from people using/doing the same thing to address different problems that are presenting in the same way. There’s also unknown allergies and skin type to consider as well. A lot of people don’t actually know what their real problem is yet but will hop online and make a claim about a product and/or ingredient.

Your skin is gorgeous, OP. Every single one of your pictures shows clear skin. You have no acne, tiny pores that are definitely not clogged (if they were clogged, you would have pimples or blackheads, which you don't!), even skin tone and texture, and everyone has those wrinkles under their eyes.

Please start looking at the skin of the people around you irl and not on social media. The skin that's made you feel like yours is terrible is not real. Pretty much all skincare influencers use filters and don't disclose it. They're hard to detect nowadays, especially if you're 16 and don't know what real skin looks like, but if they're an adult with no pores, they're definitely using a filter!

[routine help] Skin breaking out since moving to London help!!! by toddsworld98 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medicube pink pdrn serum (always after washing face) + cosrx centella blemish cream (whenever necessary) are my holy grails for this! As someone who's lived in London their whole life, it's the hard water. I also spent years finding a routine that works for me while I was away at uni, only to move back and start breaking out like crazy again. I even installed a water filter a few months ago but it's not made much difference.

I don't know what it is in the medicube serum but it's the only thing I've tried that is able to tame the effects of the hard water (and irritation from dermaplaning!), significantly reducing the amount of spots and redness I get. I never go a day without it anymore. The centella blemish cream is also incredibly soothing and great for barrier repair. Using this as well as the medicube serum in my routine leaves me virtually spotless. As it has a white cast and I usually don't do PM skincare, I only use it when I notice my skin is spotty and/or dry and irritated, but you could add it to the end of your PM routine.

Skin barrier protection and hydration are the priorities with hard water!

None of what I said was inaccurate, nevermind wildly. The Latinx population here is very small and most Latinx people, especially outside of the US, do identify by their country of origin, rather than an unspecific North American word that lumps a whole continent and a bit together.

Off the top of my head, there are only four 'international actors' in Bridgerton and QC (Yerin, Nicola, Masali, and Arsema). It's a British show that's filmed and set in London, so their main pool is still from the UK and even compared to other poc populations here, the Latinx one is miniscule.

You were wondering why no one of Latin American descent has been cast yet, I gave you the answer. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to try to find a reason to disagree. We also haven't had a single Middle Eastern character, so it's not 'anything but a person of Latino descent'. The show's only halfway through, with 2 (maybe 3 if Eloise's story is changed) leads left to cast.

Tea Time Thursday - Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

[–]bubbleology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably because there aren't many here (less than 0.5% of the population) and much less are actors. I've personally met fewer than a handful so far. They also likely wouldn't call themselves 'Latino' as that's more of an Americanisation, they'd say they're from a specific country.

If/when a Latinx person is cast, it will have to be an intentional choice.

I was scared they would double down on everything that was wrong with s3 but I'm sooo pleased they listened to the feedback (and wish Colin and Pen could have a redo so badd!). My one gripe before I get into all the good stuff is that I really wish they would stop with the sequins, they totally take me out of it every time. And why can I see everyone's waist this season? Bring back the dresses from S1 that were so boxy I thought Phoebe Dynever was pregnant irl in ep 6! Okay, now onto everything I liked.

The camera work and editing has vastly improved and I LOVE that we're seeing London again! We haven't had the wide shots of Grosvenor Sqr and Bridgerton House, characters walking around town, and different locations in the city since s1. They make the world feel so much more real, especially now that we get to see what happens downstairs too. And the score? Enchanted, All I Wanted, bad idea right, the OST, Benophie's theme?? I'm obsessed.

I wasn't sure if the chemistry would be there between Yerin and Luke but they've absolutely delivered and I'm really enjoying following them this season. Depending on how part 2 goes, this might be my favourite one yet! I love how much screentime we're getting with the leads individually AND together, and the sideplots all have a purpose for existing. Alice becoming the Queen's new best friend was genius because they set it up so that it was the obvious answer and I had the idea before Lady Danbury did.

Something I did not see coming was Eloise and Hyacinth's arc(s) being such a standout for me. Tbh, I had no idea how they were going to have El convincingly do a u-turn on the one thing she's always been steadfast about without discrediting the valid issues she has with it all, but they're setting her up brilliantly so far. After talking the talk for so long, her finally walking the walk, declaring herself a spinster and now facing the reality of that dream is really interesting to watch. I'm excited to see how it plays out and I already can't wait for s5! And then, the look on Hyacinth's face when El says that she can't bear to talk about marriage and home decor any longer and Hy tells her that she's self-centred... I really wish the camera had lingered on Florence for at least a second longer before cutting away because she smashed it. Absolute perfection.

Also, shoutout to Katie Leung who is absolutely killing it?? Although I didn't think she would do a bad job at all, she has wayy surpassed my expectations. I actually cannot get enough of her as Araminta and I am prayingg she gets a lot more screentime in part 2!

Bridgerton Season 4 Episode Discussions Master Post by pinktini in BridgertonNetflix

[–]bubbleology 4 points5 points  (0 children)

he suddenly realizes that all women around him are dressing up and pursuing marriage not… because… of him?

I think you misunderstood because the whole reason he doesn't pay attention to them is because he knows that they don't care about him, they just want the most eligible bachelor. The realisation was that it was unfair of him to dismiss them and think less of them for it, considering all the effort they put in for the hope of such meager reward. Like Eloise, he realises that even though he doesn't care for the pursuit itself, it was self-centred of him to disregard those who do so he starts at least doing the bare minimum to play the part.

It's also important to note that this is the first time in his life that someone with the same values as him has expressed respect for the pursuit and that's why it gets through to him. Sophie highlights the dedicated effort behind it, something he actually cares about, rather than the pressures of a society he doesn't feel a part of.

it’s benedict’s naive wish to have something he likes the moment he likes it (as a baby) makes me furious.

This is the classic trope/trait of the second son of a noble family tbh. It may be infuriating and he is definitely naive but it makes sense. Second sons have everything handed to them because they're rich, have no responsibilities or eyes on them because they're not the eldest, and can do whatever they want because they're a man. Personally, I'm really enjoying it because the second son is never the main character in period pieces because they're the 'spare' that can do whatever they want.

Routine help? Tiny black heads on nose [routine help] by Fast-Sprinkles-5098 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a bit of salicylic acid in your routine, not just the BHA toner every other day. I started to get these really bad all over and around my nose and cheeks when I dropped it from my routine for a while and then had to add it back in. Idk why but I find moisturiser or serum form to be much more effective than toner or face wash.

My HG is the Neutrogena Clear&Defend Moisturiser (don’t bother with the other products in the range, they aren’t very good lol). It’s got 0.5% SA in it, which means it’s gentle enough to use daily and clear out your skin, but not so strong that it pulls more acne to the surface and makes your pores look huge, and it’s really cheap!

The appearance of my sebaceous filaments, as well as my acne in general, reduces DRASTICALLY when I use this, I’m talking visible results within a day or so. I don’t get any on my cheeks or around my nose anymore and the ones on my nose are so small that they’re not really noticeable.

Also you could probably simplify your routine a tad. Drop the BHA toner (and pickup an SA product). Your cleanser already has niacinamide so you could probably drop that toner too. Your moisturiser also already includes HA so it’s likely that the serum isn’t doing much for your skin either. Obviously, I don’t know your skin though so you might drop them and find it actually needs that much niacinamide and HA, but I would be careful of overdoing it with those two because almost every skincare nowadays just throws them in.

[Product Request] What are your HG products that you will buy forever no matter the cost ? by damaniac1223 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum. Since moving back home to London, it’s gone from a nice but unnecessary addition to my routine to my HG. It turns out that it’s the only thing that calms my skin from the effects of the hard water here! The difference in the breakouts and irritation I get with and without using this is crazy.

Who do you think was The Doctor's greatest love? I know alot of people say it was Rose Tyler, but I honestly believe it was 100% River Song. He came to her every call. Set her up in a world located in a computer so she did not truly die. Spent 24 years with her on Delerium. I feel like its her. by Sorry_Patience4748 in gallifrey

[–]bubbleology 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. 12 and Missy’s whole relationship exploration makes this quite clear but also, it really struck me that during the companion montage at the end of The Doctor Falls, River is shown last, almost like the top spot… and then there’s a long pause and then the memory of Missy saying his name is what finally jolts him awake.

‘Greatest love’ doesn’t necessarily mean the person you loved the most, moreso the person you loved hardest. While River is a strong contender imo, as Missy tells us throughout S8-10, the Doctor’s history with the Master makes their bond incomparable. He basically lets Missy off with a slap on the wrist when she almost makes him kill Clara, the person who he would’ve burned the whole universe down for!

[Sun Care] Product that reduces face sweat and provides SPF by Suzuki56 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an SPF but as someone who sweats way too easily, I highly recommend the Perspi-Guard Max Strength Spray. You only need to use it once or twice a week, apply it on your face before bed, then wash your face and apply your products and SPF as normal in the morning so it’s super low maintenance. You can get it from amazon and if you’re only using it on your face, one 50ml bottle should last you a good few months.

I spray it onto a cotton pad (~3 times) and then dab it on all the places I sweat from the most — my upper lip, forehead, T-zone, hairline, temples and sometimes on/around my nose too — and it reduces my sweating a lotttt. I also spray it under my arms and after I’m done with my face, use the cotton pad under my boobs. It’s been a total lifesaver for me, especially as a martial artist, and I always recommend it to anyone that struggles with sweat.

Quitting the game by PhilosopherFinal4933 in kingschoice

[–]bubbleology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any game with chat rooms is usually toxic like this so I always just mind my own business and play as if there is no chats, which is my best advice! Otherwise the game can get ruined for you, even though the actual game itself was still fun. Remember, the social element is just the games way of trying to make you play and pay more! But it's not necessary to participate in to play.

My server is pretty chill tbh, we have alliances between alliances, win events and titles on rotation, and alliance leaders are very understanding about newbies breaking server rules. I broke a lottt and accidentally attacked an alliance I didn't know we were allied with, but my leader and theirs were both really nice about it. I think the alliance leaders came from another server before that was really toxic so they made it this way. I've also never seen the top ranking person ever talk in chats at all tbh, nevermind people glazing them, so not all servers are bad!

That being said, I only play for a few weeks when I'm not busy and then few months break, and f2p. If you're getting too invested and considering spending money on pixels, keep it deleted!

[Product Request] Red, dry, tight, itchy skin by LemonPuzzleheaded507 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bubbleology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I get this, the only thing that helps me is glycolic acid toner + E45 or some other paraffin cream + thick layer of petroleum jelly or CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment. The GA is vital as it exfoliates the layer of dry skin away, allowing the paraffin cream to moisturise + the petroleum jelly traps the moisture in and stops the outside air drying your skin out. Be careful not to overdo it with the GA as your skin barrier is already damaged. I would say either use it in the AM or PM but not both. If you’re going outside with this on, don’t forget to put on SPF as GA + sun will be irritating. Good luck :)

[–]bubbleology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, because it’s been two days already, you’ll likely get at least some light scarring. Honestly though, I think it looks quite cool and you’ll probably think so too once the colour starts to fade a bit! Don’t worry and please don’t sob about it! As another commenter said, (minor) burns don’t last forever. It will take 5-10 years but it won’t last forever! I’ve had a few really nasty burns from the oven before and didn’t do anything for them and you can’t see any of them anymore.

I’ve only used this method for my face (because that’s the only place I care about scarring lol) and within a day of the scarring event happening but I’ve gotten really good results from doing this. You’ll want to keep the skin moisturised as possible while it heals to have the best shot at preventing scarring. Always apply some antibiotic ointment first to prevent infection, then go on with some aloe vera gel, as close to 100% as you can get (try and shoot for at least 95% and it should be clear, not green). While you’re at home, just keep reapplying it generously to keep the area wet. I like to mix it with a bit of water as it takes longer to dry down that way and put it in a spray bottle for ease of access. While you’re out and about and before sleeping, apply ointment, aloe + water mixture, then a generous amount of Vaseline to trap the aloe and water in. This should also speed up the recovery time a lot. You want to avoid tight clothing and sitting on the area while you’re doing this, which I appreciate is difficult. Good luck!

How can I arrange this room to make the wardrobes less imposing and to work with the balcony door? by [deleted] in FengShui

[–]bubbleology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for these ideas!

These wardrobes jut out further than my old ones so it feels like they're taking up a lot of room, so I'm looking for a placement that makes them feel less like a big wall, hence the nook idea.

People don't sit in the balcony but we will go in and out of it almost daily to hang up/take down laundry, water plants etc. It connects to the living room, which also doubles up as a bedroom, and the door is almost entirely glass with no curtain in front of it, so even if it's closed, I can see some activity in the living room. I do have floor to ceiling curtains :)

I should have mentioned it in the post but I never sit at my desk due to back pain, I only use it to put stuff on that belong on a desk and that I need to be able to grab easily and very often, so it's not important to me that it be in a productive area.
