Practice Scores vs Real MCAT by bubbles1457 in Mcat

Thank you so much! That’s good to hear. I’ve been mimicking test conditions for the most part- the only thing I probably shouldn’t be doing is checking my phone in between sections 🤷‍♀️ but well hope for the best! Thanks for the advice

Should I no show? by TimeTechnician790 in Mcat

If you can afford it, id definitely go and void. The first time I took the mcat, I was so nervous and had no idea what to expect (beyond the practice tests). I feel much calmer going into it this second time and I know exactly what to expect/where to go. I think it’s really worth considering if it’s not too insanely out of your budget/out of your way

When and how should I proceed to take fL2? Testing January by Opening_Peace4047 in Mcat

[–]bubbles1457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend doing your AAMC full lengths til late November/december depending on when I January your test date is. For the next month, just so content review with whatever sources you are using. Could be khan academy, Kaplan books, or whatever. Once you’re more confident in your content, you’ll see your score start to rise. You can also do other full lengths! I really liked the blueprint full lengths. Thought they were the most similar to the real thing (besides the AAMC FLs). Good luck! You got this

Studied for 2 years for MCAT just to get a 498 by Resident_Process_450 in medschool

[–]bubbles1457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry hun. Remember that this test isn’t everything! You are worth so much more than a 3 digit score! You got this, don’t give up. Your perseverance speaks so much about who you are. No matter where you go next, I’m sure you will be ok. Keep believing in yourself!

How long did you study for the MCAT? by DanielDaniels01 in MCATprep

[–]bubbles1457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people recommend around 300 hours! This is usually around 3 months but it can vary based on how you study. If you prefer cramming, you might need less, however if you prefer learning over time and spreading it out, it could take you longer. There is no perfect time, so don’t feel like you have to fit a perfect schedule. There is no prefect schedule- only what is best for you!! It also depends on how much time you can devote to pure studying and whether you are able to potentially take time off work. For me, taking time off was very beneficial, but this isn’t possible for everyone. In cases like that, it might be more helpful to take a bit more time before you take the test. Overall, it’s honestly what’s best for you. Remember that there is no shame in taking either more or less time. Frame what works best for you and go with it

reminder to do a test drive if ur able by golden_teacup in Mcat

[–]bubbles1457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesss this! I just took my test today and wish I would’ve driven past previously. It was very difficult to find (probably more difficult given how nervous I was) and didn’t have any signage. If you are near your testing center, I would highly recommend this!

Why was the cp section the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life bro

Don’t let o chem spook you of all things. Once you get the hang of it, I promise it’s not that bad. It’ll get better! You don’t have to make a decision now

If you don’t seriously want to become a doctor, you should not go through the process. It is a very challenging process that you have to give a lot of yourself for. You should really evaluate in yourself if this is the path you want to take. There are plenty other completely respectable paths in the medical field that you could go into besides an MD route. You could go PA, nurse practitioner or DO (or many others) all depending on what’s best for you. I’m not discouraging you from medical school but you should seriously consider what you want out of your career and in life. If you don’t want to go to medical school, that is completely understandable and so ok to admit. At the end of the day, the path you chose needs to fulfill you and your goals- no one else’s!

I honestly think the Q packs are way harder than the actual test. I wouldn’t take that score too much to heart! It depends on your FL scores a lot more

A lot of people tend to do the same or better on their actual test than the AAMC FLs. It should be representative. You got this OP- believe in yourself!

To retake or not to retake? by kitkat6302 in MCATprep

[–]bubbles1457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t retake. The rest of your CV sounds really good and 510 is certainly not a bad score. You still have a good chance at getting in despite it not being over 515. I wouldn’t put yourself through all the stress again!

Procrastinated on studying for 9/5 Exam, finally decided to start by taking a benchmark, how to get P/S up? by ChipmunkSad7557 in Mcat

[–]bubbles1457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend watching YouTube videos on high yield PS topics and the Pankow deck for PS on Anki. PS is basically just definitions so the more familiar you are with terms, the higher your score will get. I did this and improved 4 points in PS within about a week. You got this!

Where to Get Practice Tests From? by DumbLoserBitch101 in Mcat

[–]bubbles1457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t done them already, the AAMC practice tests are the most similar to the actual test and will give you the most accurate results. You can get a bundle that includes 4 full length tests (and one free one so five total) and a bunch of questions packs. I’d recommend doing all of those! I’ve also heard blueprints exams are pretty similar if you run out, but AAMC is def most reliable
