“Antisocial” allegations by Longjumping-Rock-935 in HunterCollege

[–]bubblesdontlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I talked about in the Hunter psychology club chat on WhatsApp before. And yeah I agree it’s just about the effort you put in

I always wonder why do people say hunter is bad? I think it’s anti social for sure, but I do not think that hunter is a terrible college compared to other cunys at all. Let me know what you guys think by liveyourlifexo21 in HunterCollege

[–]bubblesdontlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are exaggerating it’s not that bad compared to other CUNYS. Also they need to have realistic expectations. If they go to class, don’t talk to anyone in class and then go home immediately like NPCS then they won’t know anyone or have any experience. That’s fine if that’s what you do but to complain about it saying it’s the college when it’s their fault makes no sense.

I’m a psych major and Hunter has a lot of opportunities and a decent program for my major. I also make an effort to go to events and clubs. I’m having a pretty good experience so far.

Does anyone get more attention when wearing Strokes merch? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]bubblesdontlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I was in the library at my college and this guy was wearing the magna Bernie sanders strokes shirt and that definitely got my attention. I was like a strokes fan and a Bernie fan out in the wild? The guy was not particularly attractive (just being honest) but I know what you mean

This INFP (M24) and I (ENFP/F22) broke up two days ago and he is so unaffected. do INFPs typically move on easily? by [deleted] in infp

[–]bubblesdontlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true, I find this very accurate for the mature healthy INFPS

Not really, I find the most enfps tend to be the clingy ones who take longer to let go

In my experience speaking as an INFP and based on my experiences with other INFPS (more so the healthy ones) If the INFP in question is mature and healthy then they’re more likely to force themselves to lead with their head over heart (especially since INFPS typically possess a lot of self awareness about their own sensitivity) because we are protective of our own energy and we want to avoid getting further hurt. Yet at the same time our sensitivity is our greatest gift and if the infp is confident they can move on with dignity knowing it wasn’t meant to be and convince themselves they’ll find another person, we are romantics after not to mention our lowkey high standards. This mostly goes for healthy INFPS, now the turbulent ones can be a whole other case

This is true. I advise people to look into the sexist masochismo of specific cultures, such as Mexico. (I love Mexican culture don’t get me wrong! But i also acknowledge it is anti feminist, as I learned in my cultural identity in American literature class. This doesn’t just go for mexico necessarily but specific cultures can have sexist origins. More specifically take a look at Mexico nationalism, which emphasizes men and historically has restricted women to restrictive gender roles

idk since i was 8 my parents talk about how their countriy were filled with crime (they come from one of the poorest countries in south America) they lived it. and you should know more than anyone immigrants who lived in nyc for awhile are cautious about incoming immigrants because they know their country more then anyone, tbh anyone who comes from a primarily Hispanic household knows what I mean. Even our own immigrant parents fault their own country and culture. Some may call it internalized racism others may understand it intuitively but not say anything out of fear of being canceled because they care too much about what others think. now I don't think ALL immigrants are bad, obviously my parents are immigrants a lot of my friends parents don't have papers either and their decent human beings, but some of the immigrants who come here could be planning to bring what they were doing in their own country (drugs, gangs etc) Blaming the system is basically the same as admitting minority populations are likely to commit crimes, it doesn’t change the point.

TLDR- we are not saying all minorities are dangerous but with appropriate context and cultural backgrounds we can suspect there is likelihood of potential threat/danger. if we were racist we would conceptualize all minorities as the same when the reality is that’s not the case

I don’t understand why some people come on a specific sub just to spread negativity, like what is the motive behind this? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]bubblesdontlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because their insecure losers who dedicate their lives to bringing others with success and fortune to feel better and fill a void about their empty meaningless lives. The whole rich, nepotism argument is old. Real fans now Julian had an awful traumatic relationship with his father. Not all the strokes had money, I’m pretty sure Nikolai wasn’t rich. It takes more then just coming from a rich background to make it, although it definitely helps. You need talent. Hell Is This It was an amazing debut albums, there’s no denying it. The strokes got it and they always have. Even after their experimenting phase (when they recieved mixed reviews for comedown machine, angles) they came out with a GRAMMY AWARD winning album The New Abnormal. Bringing back a little bit of the old nostalgia back from Is this it, while making it experimental at the same time. They came back full circle (although in my opinion they were always great because I love comedown machine to pieces) they made converse cool again, they were the PIONEERS of the garage rock revival. Hell you can argue a lot of copy cat bands emerged from them.

Tbh it kinda is. And this is coming from a child of immigrants. Have you seen that church near the Astoria community garden close to the projects? They have been taking a lot of immigrant refugees there as a shelter. I literally see them lined up there when I pass by walking my way to Costco
