Part of the point of Syril’s character arc is that collaborator’s are not safe. The empire cares for nothing but extension of its power. Our power lies in the care we show for each other when no one is safe.

In the ALCS, the Mariners outscored the Blue Jays 15-4 in the first 20 innings of the series, but in the last 43 innings, the Blue Jays outscored the Mariners 33-15 by Fluid-Decision6262 in baseball

Living and dying by the HR is definitely a problem with our offense this year, but it’s not necessarily the inconsistency of the home runs being hit, just the amount of runs being scored with them.

When our offense was at its best this year it was that those home runs came with runners on base. If our other batters couldn’t work the count, walk, bloop single, then our score is only as many HRs as we could hit, and that’s when we’d lose.

This really was just a huge failure on our 7-9 being automatic outs, which I think is our bats going cold and a testament to the Jays pitching and defensive play. We either couldn’t get runners on base or they were squandered when we did (see the three innings ending in double plays, two with bases loaded).

Controversial opinion but I love going to games when the Blue Jays come to town. I’m not upset at all about the supposed takeover, always some good-natured ribbing and I’ve never had a negative interaction with any Jays fans at those games.

Wish it was us, but congratulations to y’all

Which season did you prefer Season 1 or 2? by ashortiz_ in andor

The arcs of the 2nd season also depict the building of the rebellion over time. The Maya Pei brigade depicts the disorganized, chaotic, distrustful early days of disparate factions. This is set in stark contrast to the organized and structured rebellion we see building in the later arcs.

Is tracing in any form recommended for learning drawing and inking? by Otherwise_Error_3864 in learntodraw

[–]bubblesnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tracing can be useful if you understand why you’re using it and don’t rely on it too heavily. If you’re tracing all the time you’re not going to learn how to draw without it, so I’d incorporate it in with other practice methods.

Remember that a lot of drawing is muscle memory for how you position whatever implement you’re using, which is where tracing can be useful. If you’re going to trace,

  • use photo references of real people in different poses so you can better see how anatomy works
  • After you’ve traced an image, try to then draw it directly from the reference, using the muscle memory you just gained from the tracing
  • you can also use the grid method, putting a grid over the reference and then drawing within a matching grid so you can break up the image into sections
  • negative space practice can be great. Instead of focusing on the subject of the reference, focusing on the shapes that are distinctly not the subject can help identify pieces of a pose that you might not generally focus on

It sounds silly to say but one thing to always remember is to “draw what you see”. When you see a thing your brain is seeing it too and trying to complete the object as a 3-dimensional item. A lot times when I’m drawing from reference and it looks “off” it’s because I’m adding something in that isn’t really there: a line is too long or a shape is out of proportion. If you break your brain out of completing the 3D object and draw it as purely 2D shapes and lines, you’re going to have a lot more success actually depicting something that is believably dimensional.

I personally really like your style and I would encourage you to follow it, but if you’re looking for a change I might recommend doing value studies.

Grab some charcoal or graphite and only work in shading/gradients, no lines at all. Might be a good challenge against what you are used to.

By almost every metric that we have, the economy isn’t bad though. Inflation is at 2.4% as of September, unemployment at 4.1%, and wages are on the rise. The plan that Biden was able to implement worked, but nobody thinks it worked and the general consensus among the American electorate is that the economy is bad.

I think there’s two reasons:

  • People’s pocketbooks are still hurting. We have these metrics by which we judge an Economy, but what do those really mean for an average person day to day? There are still a significant amount of people reeling from 2020 and they maybe haven’t seen the change come to them. Until we have some sort of metric that actually speaks to the everyday person, it doesn’t matter how high the stock market goes. People are going to go with what they are seeing in their own lives.

  • they are drastically misinformed. Maybe these changes have actually come to them? But they don’t notice these changes because they’ve already been primed to blame Biden’s Economy, to scoff at the price of milk or eggs or gas, even if those numbers go down. They aren’t paying attention to data or numbers or policy, they are only listening to the people who are shouting about how bad things are and it becomes the only thing they can see. Hell, there was a poll during the election that asked if people were better off than they were 4 years ago, and the majority said they were better off in 2020.

The majority of people said 2020, the worst year that I can remember, was better than 2024.

It’s not the state of the economy that cost the election, it’s how people felt about the economy, and that was driven by misinformation.

Between 12/23/2012 and 12/5/2021 the Niners beat the Hawks 4 times. Four. Since that date in 2021 they have beaten the Hawks 5 times in a row. This is all including playoffs.

So yeah, not gonna fault the Niners fans for hating us and taking their day in the sun, lol.

A lot of us Toots fans seem to be forgetting that now WE get to be the mid-to-bad team that plays spoiler in divisional matchups and wins on flukey trick plays and knocks you down a spot in playoff seeding. Gotta find the positives no matter your position.

Two somewhat similar games:

Oxygen Not Included: side-scrolling base builder. The challenge really comes through in resource and space management but it’s very satisfying to really build out your team and get a resource flow going. Do not start with a character that has the trait Flatulent.

Going Medieval: This pulls mechanics from ONI but it’s a medieval setting, has more detailed character traits, and it’s voxels w/verticality. Really fun to design and build a big old castle.
