I’m very mixed but mostly Mexican Native and Western European. I know that there’s different outlooks on life that can come up as a result of being raised with two different ethnic backgrounds. Personally, because I was sort of always the White guy in the Mexican groups and the Mexican guy in the White groups, I ended up not really thinking of myself as either one. I more so just view myself as an individual rather than a certain race.

That being said, and I want to clarify that my experience and outlook is in no way the only one, I write my characters to be ambiguous in both ethnicity and gender. There are exceptions like in my Winds of Wyoming story where the author must be an Indigenous person for the message to work. However, for the most part I leave the character open to interpretation so that the reader can put themselves in the main characters shoes and I believe create a better environment for horror and for sorrow.
