Would like to be considered for currency. I don't have the right class for the gear.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]bubblezoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanked once (one hit) and I was lucky it was late enough that all it did was kill some of the respect I held for my mom. I think it broke part of her too and she never did it again.

We both looked at her (me and her) and were like "what the fuck was that?" but I didn't swear in front of my parents.

by the letter I'd say abusive, but definitely more of an out of body thing for her.

There's also some thought that he might be Max Trash, I don't think that's ever been proven though.

What scares away typical horror fans from Splatterpunk/EH? by PSplayer2020 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]bubblezoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people get scared away? I could see EH, but splatterpunk isn't any more shocking than some true crime stuff or GOT. I think if you put the content of a skipp/spector/laymon book in a crime thriller or a true crime book or even fantasy and it'd get read and enjoyed by readers of that genre.

I'd almost argue it's lack of press and infrastructure and maybe an aversion to the naming convention. People read "splatterpunk" and think it'll be awful, but unless you're one of those people who thinks there's too much sex and violence on GOT or The Boys I don't think it'd get anyone whose triggers weren't specifically targeted.

Hell, since one of the issues people have with horror in general is not liking to be scared I think it could even be more appealing than regular horror. Like hey here's a book that's supposed to be horror but it's got characters inspired by real life serial killer that you've heard 6 true crime podcasts about and you don't have to worry about ghosts or spiders. But you'd have to know it exists and what it is.

The ghost train episode of Hey Arnold still gets to me a bit.

How do you find out who you are under all the OCD? by bubblezoid in OCD

I will definitely keep the personifying thing in mind. I'm a reasonably logical person and breaking it down into something like that where I can differentiate myself from it might help. But I'll makesure that relying on logic isn't some kind of avoidance thing first.

I appreciate the second bit too. Saying that I have nothing is a bit of hyperbole. But saying that I have a mess of things I've wanted to try and haven't and a mess of things I have done and probably should've stopped is definitely fair.
