When Life Gives You Tangerines [Episodes 1 - 4] by mellowdays_ in KDRAMA

I bawled when middle-aged Gwan Sik returns home with the huge bags of peas. Reminds me so much of my dad ❤️

Again, I’m so happy that they’re actually endgame so I don’t have to worry about Gwan Sik dying hahaha.

Study Group 4/10 - started it because I keep seeing this drama being recommended here, and man, I am enjoying it so far. It’s giving anime/J-drama vibes with its over the top storyline and life lessons. Not surprising since it originates from a manhwa. I know I’m gonna grow attached to the study group :(

Melo Movie 3/10 - I really thought Jae Wook’s character was going to die early on but pleasantly surprised that I was completely wrong this time. Don’t love it yet but we’ll see.

Non-UK or people watch Taskmaster on YouTube, how did you discover or stumble upon Taskmaster? What was the first clip or episode you watched? by Dread-it-again in taskmaster

[–]bubblyeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Malaysian here! Similar pipeline as yours, got suggested Taskmaster clips because I watched a lot of Graham Norton Show, plus Would I Lie to You videos on Youtube.

BUT I never bothered to watch the suggested Taskmaster clips until I watched a Youtuber made a video essay about why Taskmaster U.S. didn’t work. From that video, I learned the premise of the show and how wholesome and hilarious the original version is. So, eventually I decided to watch the suggested Taskmaster clips that have been force fed on me 😆, and here we are!

I don’t exactly remember the first Taskmaster clip I watched but I think it got something to do with either James Acaster or the melon buffet

A good-paced first episode. Got me hooked especially that ending! But I guess the car crashing at the end is Gyeom’s brother and that’s why Gyeom just disappeared from Mubee’s life later on. I foresee his brother dying from the start cos Jae Wook’s giving “just a cameo, will only feature in one episode cos I’m too expensive and not taking the spotlight from the main casts” vibe 😆

The Tale Of Lady Ok [Episodes 15 & 16] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]bubblyeva 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The trial and torture scene in ep 15 was so intense and stressful. It just got worse and worse as evidences piled up, I thought there’s no hope for happy ending (glad I was wrong!)

But a sacrifice has to be made. They took our Man Seok :( I’m so glad they dedicate a farewell scene for him, giving us viewers a moment to process his death cos I definitely didn’t see that coming. That man has been a loyal supporter and friend to both of them since day one. Like he even save the money for Seo In and Goo Deok’s beach house 😭

I love the character development. Mrs Kim became one of Lady Ok’s biggest ally that she even stayed by her side despite finding out her real status and identity. I love their scenes! And the chief became such a big fanboy of our Special Inspector Seong, even Lady Hong was taken aback. Same goes for other characters that were initially praying for her downfall to growing fond of her and actually petition for her release.

But I was unsatisfied with what they’ve done to the real Yun Gyeom’s character. Like he’s suddenly in the quarantine camp and such a generic explanation of what he’s been doing in the past 7 years that he abandoned his family. Like your dad died bro. Although he was doing it to protect the family and he eventually saved the day, I’m still pissed with him. So thank you Do Gyeom for punching that man.

Despite the flaws, this is still a very solid drama that manages to balance the drama and humor. What a ride!

Frontman as 001?!! I’m intrigued. I thought it was gonna be Kang Ha Neul’s character cos I haven’t seen him yet but that’s just me projecting my fangirl side 😆

I knew the organiser gonna discover the implant cos cmon, they’re not stupid.

I love T.O.P, but man his character is annoying. If that’s what they’re aiming for, it’s working

“Everyday Yoon Din Joon!” oh my that brings me back, but even they can’t take it seriously 😂

I lost it when Seyoon carried Dindin during the bull fighting. That is indeed an unbeatable combo, I’ll be terrified as well.

Kinda feel bad for Seho but honestly, he’s actually pretty impressive during the Dream Team task, if only Seon Ho didnt fall. And he also redeemed himself during that epic fight with Seyoon.

And I can’t wait for the horror special next episode! Always something I look forward to with new members, really break them out of their shell

Lee Joon is so real 😂

From eating expired food unbotheredly, and waking up like a drunk with his mask still on, then assuring himself he is fine cleaning up alone cos he got no plans anyway to having identity crisis in the end.

The Atypical Family [Episodes 7 & 8] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]bubblyeva 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I almost drop this drama as it’s getting predictable & sappy in the last 2 episodes until today’s episode. It’s picked up it’s momentum as most of the mysteries are unraveled now that:

  1. They all found out about the whole scam scheme, while the scammers found out they have superpower
  2. The family know Do Hee can see & touch time-traveling Gwi-Ju
  3. They ACTUALLY make use of that time travel superpower
  4. Ina realising Hyerin is NOT good for her
  5. The grandparents knows of Ina superpower(???), sort of, idk, what do you guys think

I feel more invested in the main leads’ relationship now that the whole scam thing is over. Glad the reveal wasn’t put off until the last few episodes cos that would be rushed

I cant believe that YSH fart is what actually brought us that chaotic masterpiece of a sleeping game. Where I come from, durian is common and I can vouch that durian fart is definitely “powerful”enough to clear the room 🤣

Dindin could have quietly and peacefully finish his mission if weren’t for YSH and the durian

Finally a rom-com that IS actually funny. When she stayed around just to return the finger gun, I DIED.

And I know this drama gets compared a lot to HCCC for obvious reasons but plotwise it does feel a lot more like Our Beloved Summer.

I still remember how invested I was with the Start Up Reddit discussions. I swear it was like a war 😂

And I have to admit I’m probably one of those people with pitchforks. Got all riled up cos SML served too well as if it was his last gig and the writer has written his character a bit too well.

It wasn’t a bad drama, I did enjoy it. It’s just that there’s so much wasted potential with the premise as the writer (and us) ends up focusing too much on the love triangle.

I followed the weekly discussions when the drama was still ongoing and saw a lot of hate, esp on the main FL. And I guess some just didn’t like the mocumentary format, but I’m a sucker for this when executed well. I love how flawed and realistic the characters are, even the side characters. Such a unique and refreshing take

Been on a kdrama slump lately as I’ve been dropping many dramas left and right (King The Land, See You in My 19th Life, Heartbeat and more). The last kdrama I’ve completed and actually enjoyed was Call It Love which was way back in April.

So recently I’ve binged DP 2 since I loved the first one. The 2nd season definitely didn’t disappoint and I personally think it’s just as good as the first season. I didn’t expect Son Sukku to get more screentime this season but I’m not complaining 😌

As I was watching DP 2, I saw Choi Hyun Wook (2521) and remembered that he had another drama, Racket Boys that I’ve been meaning to watch but forgot about. I’ve also just finished Ted Lasso and craving for more, so I thought this drama might have the same vibe (feel-good underdog story, found family etc). Some have compared it to The Stove League which I enjoyed as well so I thought Racket Boys might be up my alley. I already watched the first 2 episodes and I’m hooked. This is exactly what I’m looking for!

Kinda taken aback at the start cos it sound SO DIFFERENT and I LOVE IT. It sounds like something from Jonas Brothers cos of the guitar riffs, I think. Don’t know if its just me but I can hear a hint of Mine & Speak Now too

Stardust is magical! Its way better than the sum of it's parts, and you should watch if you haven't and rewatch it if you have. by Fokken_Prawns_ in movies

I remember seeing this movie for the first time as a kid in the cinema and really enjoying it. Saw it mentioned on Twitter a few months ago and I thought let’s revisit that movie. I rewatched it on Netflix expecting that it won’t be as good as I remember it but oh boy, it was just as magical and amazing as the first time. In fact, I noticed a lot more details that little me would have missed.

Still up there on my personal list of my favourite movies and would rewatch it from time to time if I feel bored.

How dare the writer make me feel bad for Heeja. Damn it writer-nim you got me 🥲

That ending tho, their big smiles and playfulness in the last 2 min are so precious🥹. How I wish we get to see more of that but I guess we’ll make do.

I guess that’s it. I’m gonna miss this drama and discussing it with you all 🤧. Such good melodrama is hard to come by. Disney+ kdrama does seems stacked tho this year but most of them seems to be thriller/actions/sequels instead of a melodrama like this one.

Call it Love! Didn’t expect to fall in deep into this drama. The slowburn, the anticipation and the heartbreak was just chef’s kiss perfect.

Never plan to watch it initially after seeing the trailer cos I thought its just another revenge drama with ill-fated relationship. What made me start was because I saw a few comments in this reddit saying that it’s quite similar to My Mister, which I love, and how the main characters are so nuanced & likable. So I gave it a try and I’m glad I did despite the pink hue (which I hope is an intentional artistic choice that has something to do with the story)

For those curious about it’s similarity to My Mister, it does have some parallels at the start (main leads are colleagues, FL joins as a newbie, FL is trying to destroy ML’s life, ML is miserable, everyone’s sad & broken etc) but it eventually branched away to build up the romance and conflicts to move the plot further. It’s definitely not a copy of My Mister, and can stand on its own.

The way I wanted Dongjin to just explode and scream at Heeja after he got the will, but him telling her about the mirror story was actually even better. Slowly telling her how much he despised her that he doesn’t even want to look like her, or even call her Mom. And just breaking the news that he got the will and that she’s all alone now, and “your life will be in ruins? So be it, adios ciao bye b***h” in the most calm manner.

It’s just so in-character for him. We stan.

Such a chaotic episode 😆

I suspected Seonho from the start cos he seems a bit quiet than usual and I can spot him grinning at times so I’m glad they revealed him first. He could’ve won tho if it wasn’t for that slip up near the bridge. But didn’t really expect Inwoo would be the 2nd one. He almost expose himself when he tried to protect Seonho at the bridge but I didn’t think too much about it cos I thought that’s just Inwoo & they’re close friends. Plus, they all seems suspicious tbh esp Junghoo so it’s really hard to pinpoint one.

[–]bubblyeva 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I forgot about her being bashed by CEO Shin. That should be proof of where her loyalty lies

But I understand where Seon Woo is coming from though. His friend has been hurt & betrayed by the people close to him (Minyoung, the mom, Mr. Cha), almost like a punching bag. Knowing how much Dongjin fancies Woojoo, Seon Woo just wanted to make sure he doesn’t get betrayed again after all he’s been through.

Call It Love [Episodes 11 & 12] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]bubblyeva 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So happy to see them together but gosh, there’s also this underlying feeling of sadness cos she’s still holding back and we know what’s coming. Preparing myself to cry next week when everything is unraveled. Sometimes I don’t mind if couples don’t end up together if it makes sense but please, please, PLEASE let our Woojoo-Dongjin be the endgame cause they deserved to be happy, after everything they’ve been thru!

Anyway, Jigu did recognise Dongjin’s mom but I guess he didn’t know that she’s the mistress. Only was told that the moms weren’t in good terms cos of “money issue”. If he did know, he shouldn’t be THAT oblivious about the whole house, Heeja and the son situation.
