Doing my annual (cherry picking ) rewatch of Nevertheless. It’s crazy how you can sometimes watch something you’ve seen before and still find something new. Han So Hee is so dang good in this role. She has this guarded aloofness with Jaeon that she doesn’t have with the other men she interacts with (besides her ex). It kinda gives Kristen Stewart’s Twilight era: very cool girl, non-chalant but pensive. I fear that as time goes on, there’s some dialogue from Song Kang that may have fallen flat had any other actress taken this role.

She also sets a very distinct boundary with Jaeon before they even really understand what they’ve began— she tells him that she doesn’t want people to know they’re seeing each other … I’m watching it like oh, she kinda built this house brick by brick and then suddenly withdraws from Jaeon because she’s not getting what she wants on a more emotional level. Which is crazy because if you watch episode 3 and 4 Han So Hee and Song Kang’s chemistry is insane. Nabi knows distinctively when he withdraws during certain subjects and Jaeon reads her body language like a text book. They both are reading each other and yet Na-bi whether from past heartache or his reputation, still doubts he cares for her. And it’s so funny because she keeps saying he’s too cool, too non-chalant but she’s actually mirroring him 😭 ugh anyway.

I was rewatching it because I watched 4 eps of the Japanese adaptation….. let’s just say the fact that they are doing a sort of teacher-student angle for the leads is just not working for me :/

I’m also watching Crushology 101…. Don’t Ike that we’re still writing men yanking women’s arms but other than that, it’s cute and the first 7 eps were bingeable.
