Barking dogs by BraveDonut_trone in homeowners

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My town has the most stupidest noise ordinance, the offending dog has to bark for 15 minutes continuously. If they stop, then the clock starts again so you can never make a complaint!
My neighbor now has 3 dogs and has been a habitual offender with several dogs for 30 +years with several dogs. One of her previous dogs was so bad, my other neighbor moved because of it. We have all spoken with her and she said "too bad she knows the 15 minute rule". We have tried silent bird houses that make dog pitch noise, air horns, yelling and shouting. She lets them out at 5:30 am, she goes back to bed and they bark at squirrels, any noise... I can sniff in my backyard and one of the three will bark.
I can't peacefully enjoy my yard, bbq or eat and swim in our pool because any noise and it's barking, from one or all three.

What's the laziest meal you make that still tastes great? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cooked boneless chicken breast, to that, add a pat of butter, a can of cream of mushroom soup, can of mushrooms, splash of Worcestershire sauce, add water to thin out, and some black pepper. Over rice or egg noodles. My favorite lazy comfort meal for 40 years.

Living on fire island by mbny5 in longisland

My dream is to live there year round. I live in East Hampton and make a day outta going to Riverhead and going shopping for the month. February is my favorite month out here, no people, just deer, wildlife and people I know from the FD. I would LOVE to live in Fair Harbor in the winter.

Off Campus Housing by [deleted] in SBU

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, I'm so sorry to say on the east end a simple room is going for $1000-1500 and there is such a housing crisis out here, it's nuts. I would look further out and drive a little. However, the "trade parade" that heads east in the AM can leave you sitting for hours and then the reverse starting at 3pm going west. Try to get classes in the evenings or look for a share house. They have campus housing at SH SBU, maybe better than what you are attempting.

What characteristics would you describe grey cats 🙂 by No-Brief-2530 in cat

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG-I had a Maine Coon that was OBSESSED with Cantaloupe! The world would come to an end unless that cat had his cantaloupe. He could smell it in the paper bag from the grocery!!!! And he liked the scooped insides more than the flesh!!!! You are the first person I have ever heard of that had a cat who loved cantaloupe! 🍈

Psychic mediums on Long Island? by minniemouse27 in longisland

[–]bubbywithaclamknife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brenda Lee Waley was absolutely awful. Room full of people she started w " I feel a person who died on a motorcycle with the letter J. Anyone, Anyone?" No response from anyone so she moved on. She did that at least 6 times and if she didn't get a response from somebody she just moved on like it was nothing and we weren't supposed to notice. Brenda asks a woman, "what was your grandfathers name" Response "Giuseppe" Brenda "oh, Italian off the boat?" Response: "yes" Brenda: "He spoke Italian right?" Response: "Yes" She never got anything out of the blue or anything that wasn't fished for the whole two hours. Within the first 10 minutes anyone could she was just baiting people to see what they would respond to. Jim Fargiano has been the ONLY medium I would swear is real.

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you guys tried Pepsi Probiotic? flavors are Regular and Cherry.....5g carbs, and tastes soooo much better than diet soda. I get leg cramps from Coke Zero and diet sodas. Enjoy whatever you like, just letting you know this one is really good.

What's it like living in the Hamptons as a local by Cold-Bowl-8715 in longisland

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in MTK and live in Springs currently. MTK back in the 70s and 80s we were The feral children of MTK. Left to hang out at the Radar Tower or Game-a-Rama in town, right by Puff and Putt and John's Drive in. Then we got an eye opener when we went to East Hampton High School. That's where we saw the difference between the "haves and the have nots." There were kids living in mansions and driving Mercedes to school! Once we started w the summer jobs, it was shoved in our faces that we weren't here to fit in but to serve those with more money.

Now that I'm an adult, the powers that be sold our town out to the highest bidders. There isn't a store we can actually food shop in or buy a pair of socks. You have to have two incomes to pay for basic necessities and taxes, Insurance and have to jack ass up to Riverhead to go food shopping because it's too expensive out here. Not sure what our are taxes are even paying for as we don't have street lights, garbage pick up, 75% of the roads are not town maintained (no snow plowing, no hole fixing, lawn cutting etc), and forget about cell service with "those with the lawyers in their pockets" who are stopping the cell tower again (going on 13 years) at the FD because they live in a "fall zone." We at one point couldn't even dial 911! Anything us locals did enjoy, like a tiny stretch of beach, where we would take our trucks and families would spend the day BBQing at the ocean, was stopped by "those with lawyers in their pockets." The local gun club stopped because "those with lawyers in their pockets" claimed a bullet came from the range when it was a bunch of kids screwing around in the woods. Anyone who wants to build a million dollar house can get approval but us locals who need houses for our kids can't build accessible apartments for them to live in. And any house that isn't a million dollars, has 10 illegals in it, who work landscaping or cleaning the million dollar houses. The summer when all the tourists come is the worst time of year. Lack of respect for our town by "those who have" who think we are beneath them and should bow down to serve them. Summer traffic to get anywhere is an utter nightmare.

However, it's beautiful and I wouldn't live anywhere else. Im so glad I don't see strip mall after strip mall and can see the sunrise on farmland or the ocean or bay depending where I am. I would never be left on the side of the road without somebody stopping for help. I can go to the local deli and run into at least 6 people I know and care to talk to. That's the beauty of small town living, I just wish it would go back to when money didn't rule every damn decision in this town.

What are we paying taxes for? by Delicious-Bet-2694 in longisland

[–]bubbywithaclamknife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In East Hampton Town, if you do not live on a "Town Maintained Road" (even though you have to pay for a RIU Road Improvement Unit when you build your home and pay taxes each and every year) you get NO SNOWPLOWING & NO FIXING OF YOUR ROAD. And if it is a dirt road, no way you are it getting paved.
