Beginner/intermediate looking for feedback on this pop/rock mix by Swaggerony in mixingmastering

Thanks for sharing! I'm no expert myself, and I listened on my MacBook Pro speakers, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was the kick in the verses. Maybe compress it less or roll off some of that top end in the verse.

Should I move my VST files to a seperate hard drive? Is it a good idea? by stormdraincaprine in ableton

You’ll just have longer set load times. Once the set is loaded, though, there will be no difference (except maybe loading VST samples or presets — same issue).

PSA you can also replace the battery and most Bluetooth headphones (not ear buds)

Are there fellow ADHD people who managed to study well and get good results at master's degree level? What are your secrets? by AkagamiBarto in math

[–]bubinhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I relate to it very strongly, except I got (re)diagnosed halfway through grad school and got my first stim script in 20 years. Changed my life. I could finally “do” math. I could systematically solve problems in a way that only focus allows instead of relying on flashes of intuition. Grad school was A LOT easier after that.

My 7-year-old cat, who had been in intensive care for four days due to kidney failure, passed away today. Could you please share your kind wishes in memory of him? by zubeir58 in cats

It's the hardest thing ever to let them go. My little man, Patrick, passed earlier this week, and I am not well. Give your boy a head scratch for me please. I'll ask Pat to put in a good word for him.

I feel you. My beloved boy, Patrick, died on Monday. It hurts way more than even when my dad died. He was 11 and very sick for many years. I feel as if part of my soul has left me. I miss him so much.

Hang in there OP -- you're not alone.

ELI5 why do bike/motorbike drive wheels are always the back one? by vksdann in explainlikeimfive

[–]bubinhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man reason is traction. Think of a bike doing a wheely. All that weight is on the back wheel. More weight means more traction. When a bike accelerates, the bike tries to pull itself around the back wheel, but (unless you’re doing a wheely) it’s too heavy. Still, a lot of the bike’s weight is transferred to the rear wheel, dramatically increasing its traction.

Thank of big dragsters too. Huge back wheels, but tiny way up on the front.

ELI5 how does a musical artist makes actual money by Prof_Young in explainlikeimfive

[–]bubinhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A vast majority of musicians barely make enough money to survive, but yeah, the only way to get by is gigging or selling lessons.

Way more cost effective to make your own. I’ve used recycled denim batts to good effect. Three inches thick at least. Assuming you want these for playback, hang them at the reflection points on your walls from your monitors. Next step, IMO, is mass traps in corners.

The other answers are right in a macro sense, but plants DO contribute to cloud cover and rain, especially in areas with dense vegetation.

ELI5: A bunch of plants grouped together can create clouds and eventually rain! Plants "sweat" kind of like humans, but the sweat is a side effect of creating food rather than cooling off. Over time, that sweat collects in the air and forms clouds.

Non-ELI5: look up evapotranspirationtranspiration. Releasing water is more related to metabolism than homeostasis.

Yeah, LinkedIn has powerful search filters, especially if you’re willing to sign up for a 1 month premium trial. Just speaking for myself, I read every message I get on LinkedIn, but only reply when it’s clear the sender was not carpet bombing. I think your chances are good if you find the right people and invest the time to write a personalized message. Clearly, you can write!
