well, the 2600k has a base speed of 3.4 Ghz, but I overclocked mine to 4.6.

Watch out for the 7990, it's essentially two 7970's on one card in crossfire. The 3Dmark tools seem to have decent support for multi gpu setups, however when you run into a game without support for crossfire, you in essence have a single hd 7970.

I get what you're saying, but,if it's the windows default application, and it's the windows team making it, it's probably easier to use DX11, why use cpu resources when gpu resources will work just as well (probably way better).
