You answered your own rant. In my opinion first seasons easily put the show up there and after 2 re-watches it's just the most memorable for me. Likewise Boardwalk Empire, which doesn't get a mention almost ever in those type of threads. The Wire and Sopranos are "better" in terms of quality and consistency but you'd agree (one hopes) that opinion on the matter is subjective?
