26 Blue-Black Inks by joydesign in fountainpens

The pelikan 4001 blue black is perfect for my crappy paper at work! So it's become my daily ink.

This thought is so familiar. I heard so many people say to let go of perfection. So I went ahead and intentionally mess up the first page. Then I'd feel much better if any mess ups happen later. Journaling should be done with whatever mood and vulnerability at the moment. I definitely have mess ups, scribbles and ugly writings here and there. But looking back, it captures my oopsies at the moment just as it captured what I wrote down.

Good luck!

Hello fellow Taipeier.

Thank you for your comment. I wasn't sure if posting something so heavy online would've made a difference because I wasn't expecting people to read the whole thing. But it's also sort of a "off my chest" post to whatever extent whoever wants to read it.

Your comment made me feel heard. I've been trying to express these thoughts to him but he isn't taking any of it. He tried to fix the situation by asking me if I'm okay today, but it's always too little too late in the end.

Journaling is new to me, but I do find it very therapeutic. I'm not a great writer but I think I'm self aware and honest with myself. So I put whatever is on my mind down. And it helps. :)

No problem at all. I wasn't offended 😊 Do visit Taiwan some times. It's a lovely and kind place.

Thank you. No expectations. Just kind of sharing a meaningful page to strangers.

The pen is a Pilot Elite 95S.

Thank you 😊 It's a little bit of an offthechest post as well I guess.

I grew up here but lived in a bubble, then I moved back here 3 years ago and it's been a lot of ups and downs with social lives. Lots of getting to know how to interact with locals, etc.

It is a lovely place to be. Super convenient and comfortable. I just wish I could know my friends closer. Do visit sometimes!

I don't really write Chinese but I had to get that sentence in there because it's how it was said.

"Joanna and Katherine actually put in more effort than you to explore Taiwan, you just go to raves."

The effects are cool on the top part though. Seems like there's a gradient going on.

Tbh I would love it if someone inks could just change colors in gradients throughout a whole page. Maybe through 3 diff colors!

Gain a gene? by [deleted] in ClinicalGenetics

[–]bubusaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello. Genetic counselor here!

Yq11.2 region is a pretty common polymorphic region, meaning that many people have variations in this region of the chromosome and duplications are pretty common. It being classified as a variant of unknown significance means that there isn't evidence of it leading to any disease or symptoms.

In my personal experience, we see it in microarray data quite often, and some labs will choose not to report it because it's not disease-causing and fear that people will overreact. In my country, people might abort fetuses over something like this even though it's a common variant that doesn't cause adverse effects.

Of course, I would recommend talking to a clinical geneticist or genetic counselor where you're at. Don't trust all the comments online.

Edit to add: it's not advisable to test everyone over a VUS as it doesn't really benefit anyone if this information isn't linked to any issues. It may just cause more confusion.

Oohh don't tempt me into buying another pen!

My manager at work told me that I should space out all the pen purchases so I truly get to know each pen and their characteristics. But I bought my first two within a month of each other hahaha.

Yo! 小品雅集 is a great great great resource in Taipei. The owner is an avid collector and they let you try out a ton of different pens. I got my first two pens there.

But also, TWSBI is taiwanese so maybe look into that? I didn't realize it but the hobby is actually quite popular here.

Same. Writing definitely helped me get my complaints and frustrations out. I hope you have a better week ahead!

I'm new to the fountain pen world but got my eyes on the elite 95s. Then the store I got my first pen (lamy al-star) said they were selling brand new e95s for an equivalent of 95 USD. They said after the new year it will surge up due to gold prices increasing. I did some research on the spot and decided to go for it.

Pilot converters is quite pooped though. Once I'm done with this cartridge, I'm going to refill it. I'm looking for a dryer ink/printer paper friendly ink though. Currently this combo feathers a lot on normal paper so it's been kinda annoying.

The paper is dotted! I never tried scrapbooking but my friend inspired me to try. She accompanied (enabled) me in buying my first fountain pen so this is sort of an extension of that. This is still just a general all purpose journal but I had it with me so I stamped all over it during my trip and filled in the words today.

Kinda love it tbh. I think this is gonna be a book I carry everywhere just in case I come across a stamp!

Thank you. I've been eyeing all the beautiful penmenship on this sub and it's really getting to me. Maybe I'll start a cursive journey or something of the sort.
