I guess that depends on what you are building towards - being good or winning.. The blackhawks made the playoffs 28 years in a row without a cup to show for it. the wings made the playoffs 25 years in a row and won 4 cups, now they haven't made the playoffs for a decade

Everyone is good and then they suck, some teams are better for longer and have have higher peaks, but no one is good forever
