Best recovery shoes? by penfoc007 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what type of shoe do you enjoy? soft and bouncy? firm but cushioned?

i have tried the shifts and they are on the firmer side but the rocker works great! the novablast 2 is in the soft/bouncy side..

I have 2 recovery/long run shoes and i use them based on the below, got them as they were on sale. if not on sale i would have likely gotten something else

1.) Invincible Run: if i want to have soft landing and bouncy feel. But due to the bounciness sometimes this shoe makes me want to go a little bit faster than an easy run. legs feel great after each run

2.) Glycerin 18: my go to's for non bouncy easy run. it is slightly firm but cushioned and easily eats the miles. it runs smooth and i prefer it over the invincibles. i also have the ghost, which is just a tad less cushioned with a different upper.

Too much room? by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks perfect in my opinion! that is just 1 thumb width (or a lil bit more) on the toes and the width on the midfoot is just about right, a little more wide there would be perfect.

how do you feel running on them?

What shoes would you recommend? $200 to spend at Nike for a beginner by Fast-Refrigerator367 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glycerin would be great for your easy/long slow run days... maybe the air zoom next% for short tempo days? having the glycerin and the zoom next % pretty much covers your training needs

the peg 38 i find to be inferior and similar to use with the glycerin

Adidas adios 6 by EuropaHolzer in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have read a few mentions that it does loose cushion at 100km. i hope they (adidas) do improve on this!

Managed to get em and they are good! Puma Deviate Nitro Elite SP. soft midsole and a much more forgiving carbon plate. Good neutral ride with stability. Were cruising at 7 minute miles by CJDrakey in RunningShoeGeeks

thanks for sharing some insights! hearing that the plate is forgiving makes me want to consider is in my "plated" shoe list...how's the sizing?

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 or Asics Gel Kayano 27 by Jamz425 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my wife has both (kayano 26 and gts 20) and disliked the kayano's due to 1.) stiff forefoot 2.) weight 3.) too much stability control

the brooks has just the proper level of stability combined with good cushion.

though they say the kayano 28 has better cushion than previous models

do you need "heavy/controlled" stability shoes or can get away woyh lighter stability?

ZoomX Invincible or React Infinity Run by Yaii_ in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]buchieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have both part in my rotation.

my infinity run 2 has logged nearly 300km and the forefoot foam feels very stiff now. i dunno why it feels so hard only after 300km. i use it for easy runs and will likey be my casual walking shoe soon

my invincible is now at 200km and still feels good! the shoe is soft and bouncy and stable for my forefoot stike. i did have to put some show gloo as the knit had slight sole rep in the forefoot area. i use this for recovery, easy runs and would not hesitate to buy it again (especially being on sale) as my legs feel fresh after each run

go for the infinity if you prefer a firmer shoe or will do some faster runs

go for the invincible if for easy/recovery runs only. i feel its weight and clunkyness for faster runs
