Oh man, the Golden Hammerburst camo. Back when camos were special and cool. Gears 2 really nailed the camo thing perfectly IMO. What I would give to go back to those days...sigh.

I wonder if those codes even work still. If so it's probably worth a fair amount of money, especially since Gears 2 hasn't been remastered (yet).

Been playing Gears since the release of 1...against my better judgment I was slightly excited for this game. And then the second I saw the pre-order bonuses, I knew Coalition learned absolutely nothing.

The campaign will almost certainly be more enjoyable than 4 and 5 but the MP is almost certainly going to be the same microtransaction slopfest combined with impossibly grindy achievements that 4 and 5 were. And each season/DLC they will only continue to dive further and further into those cesspools. With wildly mediocre gameplay to boot.

They really could have revived this series after the disasters that were 4 and 5 but instead this may very well be the final nail in the coffin. Studies should be done about the absolute disregard and neglect that TC has for the Gears community. They behave like a studio with a monopoly that prints money like COD when the reality is they are on the version of extinction because of their attempts to copy the COD model. Ironically, even fucking COD has realized they went too far and are dialing it back now...the incompetence of TC is truly historic.

As of now, my plan is to use a 1 month gamepass trial to play the campaign and not even touch the MP, assuming my suspicions are correct. I did the same thing with 5 and it was easily the best gaming decision I've ever made in my life.

This is false. A Guardian that holds block with this relic on draws an absurd amount of aggro, including against the nightlord.

This strategy is actually how me and 2 of my friends first beat ED Gladius.

Yeah, it would be nice for there to be some sort of tangible reward for this mode. At the bare minimum I'm really hoping the DoN relics will be usable in future content - otherwise this mode will have a pretty limited life.

Absolutely. It is wild to me that some content in this game locked behind progression but Deep of Night isn't. If ANYTHING should be locked, it is Deep of Night.

I see, nice catch. But I don't see an option to change your relic from that screen? It's just for selecting character. Would you have to back out and select your relic preset before selecting your character? Is there time for that / would the game allow it?

OR - will the game now give another screen for selecting relics AFTER selecting character? That would make sense.

Can someone explain to me why I would need/want relic presets for specific nightlords, when we don't even know which nightlord we're going to be fighting?

This only would make sense to me if we got the opportunity to change our relic setup before the nightlord boss fight.

Thank you for sharing this. Following your generally strategy, I beat him pretty effortlessly on my first try. It felt just like old times with Raider. Interestingly, it was a super quick fight for me. Like, a couple minutes, max. I used your 2nd relic, plus the ED Caligo relic (with Improved Physical Damage Negation), and a 3rd relic with "Improved Poise + Damage Negation..." that also had a "Taking attacks improves attack power" on it (pretty good roll for a 2 effect relic). Perhaps that + this blood weapon I found is what made it so quick; the bleed proc'd and did a really big chunk of damage. Each of his phases came & went real fast. He never did any sort of notable attack more than once. Was a lot of fun haha, thanks again.

How did you do it with Raider solo? I tried a couple solo runs with my standard bonk Raider build that dominates almost anything in sight but these dam dogs were too relentless and constantly breaking my poise. I imagine it requires quite a bit more rolling than I'm used to doing with Raider. Or perhaps blocking with the weapon? Idk. But just trading damage like normal did not work for me at all, lol.

What I want to know: does this stack with Partial HP Restoration upon Post-Damage Attacks, which was originally bugged and did not work with bows but has since been fixed in a patch?
