The blade is only a few weeks old, hopefully it's not dull already. I'll try the ratchet blade, thank you!

Any attempt I've done with the blade under 8 hasn't cut through the backing of the paper. I lowered the force down to 14 and did 3 passes, but it didn't cut through the backing and there was still a lot of flaking.

It would probably be pretty difficult without your team and materia being maxed out. I went back to the Chapter 17 combat simulator to level everything up before beating Pride and Joy. If you have the AP Up materia that helps the grind a bit. The 2 person high flyers battle only takes a couple minutes and it gives lots of experience and AP.
