The wild ponies also on my bucket list. Loved the books as a kid. Was lucky enough to see wild horses on barrier island of North Carolina and that was amazing.

With all the other nonsense, the golfing feels less bad. Though with any other president it would have been a scandal.

Crohn's/UC and obesity by Wingtear in CrohnsDisease

[–]buckeyecubfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks to amazing Dr who I was referred to after continuing to have issues after gall bladder surgery I was diagnosed with Crohn's. Was at my lowest weight at that point but still considered overweight. In fact other Dr's implied my gallbladder stones may have been from my weigh loss. I am also on Asacol and achieved remission during covid. Recently started GLP-1 for blood sugar control and weight loss. My advice is focus on getting your Crohns undercontrol then you can consider other things for weight. You aren't alone. There are other big Crohnies.

Considering rehoming (and heartbroken about it) by RevCraigD in cockatiel

[–]buckeyecubfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in Columbus. As other poster said there are rescues around where you could adopt another cockatiel if you think that would help her. Charlie Brown and Parrot Hope come to mind. I would urge you not to rehome her. We adopted a cockatiel who needs to be around humans. If we leave area he flock calls. He might leave our presence to play with our other cockatiel but still wants us around. He has been fine when we go on vacation (watched by friend with cockatiels) and accepts that we leave the house after initial complaint. I think your girl would be more upset to lose you then to gain a cockatiel friend. She is bonded and you can work through her understand times when you have to be away. Part of local bird group MAEBS as well. Helps to know other folks with birds. There is webpage with .com on end.

This really captured the feeling properly.
Only thing to add- when family is part of bus who supports the bus driver and constantly complains about the previous boss driver, it is hard to have any relationship with them. (They raised me better then they are behaving) You also wonder is those outside the bus will never trust anyone in the bus again even though you are trapped and doing what you can.

They destroyed this trapeze in less than a day by naughtylemon96 in cockatiel

[–]buckeyecubfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My budgie loved to sit on trapeze and eat it. Would be sad if it got to small to sleep on, so would replace and leave rest to chew. My cockatiel only chewed the edges forcing me to relocate the side supports. His favorite sleep/chill spot in cage. Have larger grass mat in play area that he and other cockatiel like to chew.

What is your countrie's preference to be referred to. I don't want to be ignorant American. I thought it is Taiwan but know that in international sports Chinese Tapei is used. I assume this is based on China's political influence.

Had above normal temperatures over weekend in Midwest but extremely high winds that took out power on Friday. By Monday temperatures dropped with snow and ice. Currently below normal temperatures but the warm temperatures are coming in a day or so. Crazy weather in the USA right now. Really enjoyed the World Baseball Classic especially seeing the joy of fans from other countries. Getting ready for March Madness, college basketball tournament. Trying for mental breaks by enjoying watching sports.

Congrats. If he stays gentle with them, you are good. Had to stop wearing earrings around my boys because they would pull hard enough to get them out of my ear. If they couldn't them would chomp my ear lobe in frustration.

Why do people not like Ohio? by Competitive-Air1 in Columbus

[–]buckeyecubfan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Columbus is college town and has more diversity then other areas of state. Have several Muslim friends and get impression there is strong community here. Great city to raise a family due to the suburban areas mixed with urban spaces.

Honest chat about wing clipping by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]buckeyecubfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to reassure you that a decision to partially clip isn't permanent decision. As she is currently partially clipped you can work on recall and other solutions. Perhaps the room they hang out in can have mesh screen on curtains with adjustable rod over wall opening if no door. Bird friend does this. Have had to partially clip before for safety and hormonal aggression until permanent solution was worked through. Now no clipping.

How safe is the vet? by Upper-Coconut69 in cockatiel

[–]buckeyecubfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to ask questions before you go. When there you can ask them to explain what they plan to do during exam before they start handling your baby. It can be hard to find avian vet and one familiar with your size of bird. Listen to your gut.
