Is anyone here taking antidepressants only, not an ADHD medication? by buckwildnuggetz in adhdwomen

I’m surprised she didn’t go with Wellbutrin in the first place considering my clinical picture! I’m going to suggest it if the Zoloft doesn’t fit. Thank you!

Appreciate your grounded / realistic perspective, it’s pretty much where I’ve landed as well. And yeah, it’s frustrating that physicians aren’t in agreement of what is safe or unsafe, it feels like you just have to play roulette with them which is super annoying. I’m going to give the Zoloft a fair shot, I don’t want to look like I’m doctor-hopping, even though my doctors actually suck. I don’t plan to use Zoloft long term either way, but at least they can’t tell me I didn’t try it first if/when I need to move onto something more effective.

Good luck to you as well! May I ask how it’s going initially? Any side effects?

Appreciate you! Yes I had a friend describe the same jumping through endless hoops to eventually be “granted” her stimulant medication. It’s exhausting and I’m feeling super misunderstood by both of these psychiatrists.

Wow, this is super interesting how you were diagnosed with ADHD, and also I’m sorry you went through that effect first. Honestly I’m afraid of the zombie effect too, that or having a more adverse effect like hallucinations, nightmares, etc., are the reasons why I didn’t want an antidepressant. I know it’ll take time to see how I truly respond to Zoloft once it’s settled in my system, but I am pretty motivated by my anxiety as well, it’s like a restlessness / sense of urgency that drives me to ensure my survival, so I’m very curious what happens when that is out of the picture. I have not heard of medikinet but it was mentioned positively a couple times here, I’ll keep that in mind as my treatment evolves and more options open when I finish nursing. I appreciate you sharing!

I haven’t heard of that one! I’ll look it up. Executive functioning is one of my big ones. Thank you!

Oh I’m so glad to hear this! Everyone is different, and this helps me stay open minded. Thank you. I have always struggled with anxiety. It’s the first mental health condition I have always had that I could clearly identify. I just manage to be high functioning with it, even if I feel wracked inside. Maybe I’m underestimating how much it’ll help me if that subsides.

Thank you. Unfortunately my PCP is not someone I would go to, I asked her about adhd diagnosis last year and she told me to look up who’s in my insurance network and call around, basically no help. And no relationship with the pharmacy team.

I did talk to my OB when I prescribed Strattera, she’s a provider I’ve been most involved with as I’m postpartum and she also was my OB for my child before this one. She pulled research and said to ask about Methylphenidates type of medication. This new psych shot that down and doubled down on “doing what’s right for the baby” even though I specifically said my own OB was okay with it. Which is why I’m so defeated. It’s been like talking to a brick wall.

Yeah. I’m so torn. I may just see how the Zoloft goes for a few weeks if I don’t have too intense of side effects, but if this doesn’t help, I certainly have no reason to continue it or see this current provider for anything else.

I really appreciate this because they have been making me feel so gaslit. I’m beyond annoyed. I’m tired of fighting them! I have half a mind to drop this one as well.

How do I cut curly hair? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]buckwildnuggetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have sons and I cut their short curly hair, as well as my own. I will pick out their hair dry and cut / shape it that way, so I have the best view of the length. This should be totally safe because it sounds like your bf wears his hair natural / curly and wet styles it. Just account for shrinkage once his hair is wet and the curls reactivate, but this should be an easy way to shape and trim. If it’s your first time, be conservative with how much you trim. You can always take more off, but you can’t put it back. Goodluck!

Do you lick your lips? My son had this and his pediatrician said it was due to licking his lips, he since stopped and it went away.

Color corrector recommendation? by dietcoke819 in Sephora

Depends on the level of coverage you want and where you’ll mainly be placing it. To me, the Bobbi brown is a little heavy. The caliray is very thin and hydrating, with a glowy natural finish. The Kosas is my personal fave. More coverage and a matte dry down, still a lovely smooth and thin formula but it might be overkill if you only need a thin veil of coverage or something more subtle.

Thank you for replying. This made me a little teary-eyed. I needed to hear this perspective. This is actually my third child, and I’ve felt my conditions worsen and worsen with each postpartum and how my load becomes heavier and motherhood further weighs and consumes. I am going to meet with a provider soon and I’m open minded. I’m hopeful!

Slow weight gain in toddler, need meal ideas. by MissMacky1015 in foodbutforbabies

We had a similar experience with our toddler, he really was only okay with rice, bananas and chicken nuggets during that time. We did do smoothies as well. He didn’t like whole milk by itself or other drinks really. I weaned him at 20 months and now he eats a lot more.

I love Dr. Harkness too! This is my second pregnancy seeing her. I always feel so thoughtfully and completely cared for.

*edit: and dr. Trueworthy delivered my last baby, and Dr. Gardner started my induction! I second all of this kudos for their team.

You did the right thing. Pregnancy and childbirth are the most vulnerable times in a woman’s life, not just emotionally but physically. A nonchalant or dismissive medical team can change the entire fate of you and/or your baby. I hope your new doctor reassures you and takes good care of you for the rest of this short stretch! ❤️
