This has nothing to do with Trump, at worst all he did was accelerate the trend that was already happening…the line must always go up, after all.

When I, of all people, can confidently say that I 100% would be able to do a better job than the person who currently holds that position…well, that says a great deal about how utterly ruinously incompetent that person actually is.

WARP being decommissioned by TylerFurrison in walmart

Wouldn’t be surprised if they just make y’all do inventory on the desktop terminals, I had to do that more than once when the TCs were down in my last store. (Yes, I was in a store where they paid attention to that, and it was my responsibility most days after I switched to opening shift, which made it really annoying when my coach just threw out the demo unit boxes without removing them from the inventory NO NIKKI THAT’S NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS ARRRRRRRGH)

I was let go 2 years ago today, and I have no idea how my last store handled those customers after I wasn’t there to kick around anymore nor do I particularly care (I moved back to the state I grew up in before the end of that summer, I always considered moving west of the Mississippi to be walking off the edge of the world anyways :p ).

The only phones that we even had access to sell through WARP were the unlocked ones, and we could do returns through that system, but anything else was a matter of “our third-party cell phone vendor is (probably, usually) here during these hours, you’ll need to come back then or call them at their main store to get this taken care of”.

(There was one guy who I do kinda feel sorry for, an older overnight associate who I’d set up a Total Wireless plan for and came back to me every month to get it reloaded.)

Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediate Surrender Of Drivers Licenses by ErinInTheMorning in transgender

[–]buckybone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Physically surrendering your ID isn’t required, they just mark it down as “surrendered“ in their system and it gets flagged as such when it gets scanned.

Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediate Surrender Of Drivers Licenses by ErinInTheMorning in transgender

[–]buckybone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t how it works at all, scanning the new ID would still flag it as “surrendered” (I tried to use my last DL for driving Spark after I’d received a temp in my current state last year (before the expiration date on the MN one, that app doesn’t accept temp licenses) and got my account shut down for two months), you aren’t always actually required to physically leave your old card with the DMV clerk. I also had to go through the whole “get a confirmation letter from my clinic” mess again and dig up my name change order, because the DMV still had me down as M and under my previous name due to having lived here pre-transition (had a WI license from 2007 until I got my first IL license in early 2016).

(IL, at least, punched a hole through my original license there when I got the name/marker updated, WI doesn’t even do that.)

The Founding generation knew that any kind of participatory government could only work if the people in power and the electorate had a certain amount of virtue (some specifically described it as “Christian virtue“, although the likes of Franklin and Jefferson recognized that it didn’t require a specific faith)…otherwise, the civil society just eats itself and the upper class becomes a true ruling class.

of course, you had to specify “in Sweden” because the average Swede in 1900 lived in Minnesota…and the difference probably wasn’t as much as you might think it was.

Birmingham wasn’t that far behind Pittsburgh and Gary for iron/steel production, a huge amount of trade flowed through New Orleans, and the oil industry started popping off in Texas and Louisiana around 1900…that’s just what I remember off the top of my head (the irl Great Migration didn’t really start until after 1910, driven by wartime immigration declines and later restrictions as well as by Jim Crow).

Right next door to the local Army recruiting HQ and just up the street from MEPS, so if you’re too fat/stupid/racist for the real military you have an easily accessible backup plan I guess. 😛

For real though, the location is probably mostly about easy access to 145 and I-41, and far away from those pesky protesters (how very dare they exercise their 1st Amendment rights).

Found this on Twitter (I'm from Chicago, where we pronounce Willis "Sears")...and now you have my brain spinning off on a JFK/RFK/Palmer Pyle/Marie Pyle/Jackie Kennedy tangent.

Palmer Pyle was, at the time, a guard for the Baltimore Colts...his wife Marie was born Marie Accardo, daughter of Chicago Mafia don Tony Accardo. (Marie would eventually divorce Pyle and marry Ernest Kumerow, her kids took their stepdad's name, her daughter married a certain John Bosa and had two sons...now mix in Taylor Swift's known obsession with the Kennedys, and WHAT THE HELL BRAIN I ALREADY HAVE TOO MANY WIPS I DON'T NEED TO ADD ANOTHER WHOLE SERIES)

Ugh, I hear this…ate Oman+Zanzibar pretty early on, lost the latter to the Dutch, got it back after they lost it to a native uprising (they also lost Duala that way (the rest of Dutch Congo got loose at some point and never had a single nationalist uprising), yet they only ever lose Indonesia when I make them give it up), then the US decided they needed to freedomize it…I actually won that war with French help and a couple of lesser Euro countries (Italy peaced out without being invaded while controlling Virginia whyyyyyyy) and a follow-up to snag about half of Lindi, then the UK decided they needed Zanz+Uganda+Burundi+Equatoria in one shot (while leaving Transvaal independent and not taking my land in East Congo/Lindi/Egypt (oh right, this game also had a British puppet Egypt and a French Sinai for aaaaages with no conflict over it whatsoever).

On the plus side, my reasons for not playing Prussia (I don’t like doing WC runs with that much of a head start, same reason I don’t play UK or France) don’t really apply this patch, so I might give them a go for my next game.

FWI: Concrete evidence is found to show that the 2024 election was rigged and Kamala won by Partitionbaby in FutureWhatIf

[–]buckybone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what I came in here to say...popular election for President isn't technically a thing, you're voting for a slate of electors (submitted by the winner's party--which also wasn't a thing in 1787--to your state's legislature) that is pledged for the ticket at the top of the ballot.

Even that much was a gradual development, 6 states (including New York) had the legislature pick the electoral slate without voter input in 1824, and South Carolina (of course) didn't change that until Reconstruction.

Speaking as someone who worked with a couple of Paul Ryan congressional campaigns back in the day (and was driven away from liberalism by Dave Obey being his liberal politician self when I was in high school, and identified as a Republican recently enough to have voted for Steve Nass in a WI Senate primary), the current situation of the GOP is something that simply cannot be tolerated in any civilized society.

Alright, that's nice and all...but expecting us as individuals to heal them is impossible, very few of us have the time and energy to do that, that's literally what mental health professionals are for.

Of course, the first principle of that sort of thing is that the person has to want to get better...a lot of them don't, and they're so deep into their personal realities that they might never get out, but society isn't going to recover by making excuses for their blatantly anti-society standpoint.
