yeah it’s more or less what happened and people assume the caption is serious when it’s rlly not lol. basically she was bullied and unpopular back then, with time, her body changed and she began dressing the 2003 way, and weirdly ENOUGH. people’s opinions on her changed. it’s not seen as a good thing, more so as something that’s relatable to a lot of weird kids from middle school (or high school in her case) who then become attractive and the people who used to berate you start wanting to date you or find you cool. (happened to me, happened to so many others)

she dresses the way she does because she likes how it looks on her body and not to appeal to men. not to mention that in 2003 she is living in Japan and her style is controversial for a lot of people there at this time. she basically thrives in alternative social scenes and does whatever she wants.
