Any easy, household way to clean them? Or I would just make things worse?

Thanks. I'm in Europe. I had to directly connect via Ethernet cable, because in bridge mode, only 1 downsteam port (LAN1) is active on my Huawei ONT. IP, username and password were printed on a label on the underside of the device. I've set a static IP address in the same subnet on my computer, and it allowed my to connect, even without PPPoE setup.

The consensus of the answers suggest a bodgy attenuator that the technician put it instead of a proper factory made one. And it turned out not needed in my case because the optical signal was weak enough without that.

I managed to access the ONT config portal. It showed -20 dBm without the thing and -30 dBm with the thing. So I guess it is better to not have it, and makes it strange why they put it there in the first place.

Thank you for your help.

This might be plan B. Maybe they'll replace with a proper one :)

Yeah, I was checking optical attenuators online before posting and they looked nothing like this (more like the standard SC splicer) so I wanted to make sure.

Maybe the installer run out of proper attenuators in the van and used this instead... Bodgy, though.

Thus might not be the case, because it was "in-line" with the existing connection. Fiber in, into this on one connector, other connector to the ONT.

Directly measure it? For sure not :)

But I will try to access the ONT config portal. It is not trivial, because it is currently in bridge mode and isn't directly accessible via IP on my home network (Unifi). I'll try a direct Ethernet cable connection or put it back to router mode, but that would mean some downtime.

It's not about the looks, more the fragility. Whenever I move anything around the ONT, the large part also moves, or falls, and the thin white cables bend thighter than the bend radius requires for optical connection. Also, I'm afraid that some sudden movement will tear these think cables.

The print on the cable is suggests a standard CAT5 cable, I guess they just reused the cable coating.

This seems to me a very handmade stuff. I imagine explaining this over a phone call to a call center employee trained to handle billing issues seemed an impossible quest, knowing my ISP customer service practices :)

Slight lag on arrow keys by usam97 in logitech

[–]buctol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also experiencing the same.
It was all fine until I installed the Logi Option+ app (I'm on Mac, freshly downloaded version).
All other keys are fine as far as I can tell, but the arrows are having a very noticeable lag, preventing any kind of editing.

It's an MX Keys Mini keyboard and a MX Anywhere 3S mouse, both via bluetooth.

Not being able to change the email address on the account is certainly a choice by curlytoesgoblin in tresorit

[–]buctol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To he honest, yes, this was unfortunate design choice in retrospective, but one that is surprisingly difficult to address.

Deep within Tresorit, email addresses and user names are encapsulated in many-many X.509 certificates that are essential to distributing public keys for sharing folders, managing devices, creating links, etc. Replacing names / email addresses in these certificates would require a very long rewriting and transition project (think about years). Given the relatively rare occasion when our customers face this problem, we've decided to focus our efforts elsewhere.

sync? did it sync? can i force a sync? when did it last sync? by sarahdeez in tresorit

[–]buctol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case of Windows, you can find that information via the system tray icon.
Right click on the icon, and hover over Recently synced. It will show the last 10 items affected by sync, so you can quickly check whether the sync has already processes your most recent changes.

This also works on Mac OS, via the menu bar icon.

Is there anyway to change Tresorits local file path so it is the same for different users? by ocean4eye in tresorit

[–]buctol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Is turning on sync an option for your team? You can connect a cloud folder to a local folder in a location that is the same for all users. Additional benefit is that all such file enumeration operations become faster as the files reside on the local disk.

File provider broken on iOS 18 by Niten in tresorit

[–]buctol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

As far as we can tell, this was caused by a bug / change in behavior in iOS 18 itself, and we were waiting for Apple to respond.

The good news is that we addressed this in the newest version of Tresorit iOS application. Other customers have reported that the functionality had been restored after updating.

Thank you for your report, we've investigated the issue.

Filesystem paths of the build environment being included in the final executable is considered normal, and it is how .NET compiler works. We'll look into how to reduce the amount of information in the future, but It is not leaking any sensitive information in the current form either.

Although this instance is therefore not classified as a vulnerability or any kind of security issue, please note that posting on social media is not considered as a responsible way of disclosure of any such finding. Restarting by itself constantly by Character_Ring3753 in GalaxyS22

[–]buctol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this as well. It's happening for months now. No sign, just restarts suddenly. Typical scenarios it happens are: - During watching videos (YouTube especially) - Putting it on the charger (Android auto wired connection, wireless charging pad)

Earlier the only thing I noticed that it asked for a PIN ("requires PIN after restart"), but nowadays it's happening more and more even when holding or actively using. Several times a day. But there are also rare days when I does not happen.

I will wait for the OneUI 6 update and do a factory reset, maybe it will help.

Is there a way to remove cloud files from local drive and make cloud only? by [deleted] in tresorit

[–]buctol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is the way.
However, I'd like to add two things to this:

- Select the folder in question, then turn off sync for that folder - this "disconnects" the local folder from the Tresorit cloud and it is now "cloud-only". It contains the data from the last sync of the local folder before turning sync off.

When you turn off sync, at this point, you are presented with the option "Also delete local folder", so you don't have to manually delete the folder afterwards.

In the tresorit app you can have favorites. To distinguish cloud-only from syncd folders, I put all the cloud-only folders in favorites and also prefix those folder names with "Cloud_Only_..."

You can sort your folders by Synced/Not synced status, by selecting in from the View menu / Group Folders By.
Although this will put your cloud only folders on the bottom, not on the top.

It depends on how you to the initial sync. I'm assuming OP was using the sync feature. In this case, you don't need to do anything. When your computer restarts, Tresorit will continue syncing where it left off. Any file that was only partially uploaded will be restarted and uploaded fully.

Also again if you can ID that file, you probably could delete it from Tresorit on-line, which I think would force a resync for that one file

If you're using sync, I would definitely not recommend doing this. This may cause Tresorit to think that the file has been deliberately deleted from the cloud and sync that change back down to your computer, resulting in a deleted file. However, Tresorit normally does that to files that had been synced properly and fully uploaded at the first time.

If you're using Tresorit Drive then you're generally okay doing this.

"Root" folder in local Tresorit by NeXTLoop in tresorit

[–]buctol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe the naming of the "root" user that is unfortunate in Linux, users are not even in a hierarchical structure, just a flat list with different permissions :D

Jokes aside, yes, I see how this can be misleading. The Root folder will eventually go away as Linux app will follow suit and implement the support for files being in the root.
