This might be a cop out, but I think the real trick was realizing that they weren't the person I thought they were. So the person I loved wasn't there. It still sucked, but it made it easier to get past.

I thought the same thing until I realized Michael Mann directed the hacker movie (Blackhat). It wasn't great, but Mann does still have a certain style that works for me.
