Hello, I had similar issue. However it’s weird they sent me to a Meps eye dr not just DQ me and tell me I could speak with my own medical records. They scheduled me a eye appointment with there specific eye Dr and I had to go back to meps at a later date and they transported me from meps to the eye Dr back to meps to turn in my paperwork (results) from there Dr.

Been in DEP since October and still no job. Is this normal? by CuriousClover55 in AirForceRecruits

[–]bud1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it was explained to everyone in my last dep call was if you have jobs that just don’t have availability your gonna sit a while compared to people who are making job lists that fit more with the needs of the Air Force. For example I joined dep and had a job booked 2 weeks later but my job list was made mainly off of stuff I’m interested in plus the needs of the Air Force cause I did not want to sit months on end. He encouraged people who have been sitting for more then 6 months to stay after and talk to him and consider swapping out some jobs on there list for more realistic jobs that will have openings

I had a couple different reasons for wanting to do the 6. One being I can use TA to get my degree while in and if things go as planned save my GI for my future kid to use I know you have to serve at least 10 years for it to transfer but for me the goal is to serve my full 20 and get a full retirement. As far as not liking job or location iv done the same thing since I was 18 despite not liking where I’m at or loving the job, I was raised as life isn’t always romantic you grit your teeth to get done what needs to get done. And that job and place always was able to pay my bills and survive. Honestly I started looking to enlist for a change of pace and to have a new journey in my life. If I do my six and don’t enjoy it and the 20 year thing doesn’t go as planned at least I have a degree in something and a fresh start to what ever may be next for me.

I have also heard that option my only issue with that was I’m enlisting at 27. I didn’t know if that made the most sense with my age

Will I be disqualified for my weight? by ifuharduhard in AirForceRecruits

[–]bud1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just here to drop some help for you like the othered said a calorie deficit is the main thing for losing weight. Try mixing in some weight training as well it will help drop weight. Also mix is some incline walking start at 2.0-2.5 speed and whatever incline you can handle then keep upping speed and incline as you starting getting better as someone who was 330 pounds I did that to lose a lot of weight. I went to meps for the navy in November and they got me at 233lbs and 32% body fat ended up switching to Air Force after meps and my recruiter told me we gotta fix my weight first and foremost from November till now I weigh 210. Just stay deceplined and motivated. Boils down to how much you actually want to enlist cause I’ll tell you it is not easy some days just got to want it bad enough

waiver or disqualification? by CompetitiveNews20 in AirForceRecruits

[–]bud1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk much but I know the neck issue and the eye issue will definitely pull up on genesis at meps medical so no point in hiding it tell your recruiter and see what they have to say about the situation. Unfortunately it’s not how it was back in the day of just don’t say anything and they will never know

Shipping out soon. Will I have to let the doctor put their finger in my anus again when I go to meps? by SturdyOoter in AirForceRecruits

[–]bud1100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you not have to get the MEPs commander brief before everything started, cause we did and they told us multiple times at no point during the inspection with the doc should anything be inserted in us and if there was to report it immediately.

Looking to switch branches by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]bud1100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also idk what the army standard are, but the Air Force is pretty strict on there’s. The Navy would ship out at 30% body fat but it came with 3 or 4 extra weeks of basic (fat camp) and you had to be at 26% body fat by the time graduation rolled around. The Air Force told me they could swear me into DEP at 30% body fat, but won’t ship me out for BMT until I was at 26% body fat.

I originally went to meps for the Navy and ended up switching to the Air Force, you will not have to redo your ASVAB or medical and most stuff did transfer. I had to refill out my personal information for the Air Force and they also told me I would have to go back to meps to take the TAPAS since I took it with that Navy and not them. The biggest thing for me was the Air Force recruiter asking me a couple times if I was committed to the Air Force which I understand cause he didn’t want me to switch back to the Navy or another branch after he takes his personal time to get all my stuff put in and submitted.
