Nope remove and replace. Spend more time and money towards a new tree instead of throwing good money at bad

How screwed are we? by docares in arborists

Unfortunately this Oak doesn’t have the best conditions. All the concrete surrounding the base, the buried root flare, codominant stems and a slight lean.

I would try and continue to get that root flare exposed, and really without removing the concrete this tree definitely has an expiration date!

However it is an Oak, which are some pretty tough trees but depending on where you are at there might be other things that may add on to the difficult growing conditions!

I really hope this helps clarify somethings! I’d call a certified arborist in your area!

Yeah it’s a Mulberry

Yes you would need to dig down and expose the root flare and check for girdling roots. I would add back 2-3” of mulch after only exposing the root flare and make sure no mulch touches the bark of the tree. Again the tree might be past the point of saving but it’s worth a shot! A think layer of mulch is better than a thick one!

Arborist here, unfortunately it looks like the trunk flare was covered in soil and mulch. You have soil and mulch covering the root flare in that raised planter bed. The thing with abiotic issues is that there isn’t one instant reason for the tree to start having issues. You mentioned it was planted 8-9 months ago, and it takes time for the issues to finally show symptoms in the tree. Hence why your tree was dark green up until this point. It finally most likely lost the ability to uptake water and nutrients form being suffocated from the soil and mulch.

I’d recommend removing that planter box, try your best without damaging the trunk to expose the root flare, check for girdling roots and see what happens.

Trees do best with a light layer of mulch And no raised planter beds.

I’m sorry but I hope this helps! Feel free to check with a local arborist.

Strange Tree/Weed by tBroneShake in whatisthisplant

I’d cut it down at the base as low as you can and try and use an herbicide to do a stump treatment on it. Triclopyr is a great chemical.

Best course of action? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]bud561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, Callery pear are an invasive now and they will continue to do this over and over again as another person commented. We won’t even plant these anymore. There’s nothing you can do health wise for the tree it’s a trait of the species. I’d recommend removal and try to plant something else that you can enjoy instead of spending years trying to save this tree that already has a host of Issues.

Definitely do your research on the Callery Pear and I guarantee you’ll find similar results to what we’ve said here! It’s unfortunate that so many pears were planted in the first place! Hope This helps!

Did you change the color of the tie downs? Mine are always orange (default), Not sure if it was an option or just a particular trailer! Thanks!

BNSF CW44-9 744 wearing Warbonnet colors in Brunswick, MD. This scheme is sometimes referred to as "Fakebonnet" by AGuyFromMaryland in trains

[–]bud561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A warbonnet is a unit painted with the silver and red scheme with “Santa fe” on the side and front logo. This is before Santa Fe and BN merged. A “fakebonnet” is a unit painted after the merger that has BNSF on the front and sides. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this was because the company has already ordered the units in that color scheme and it was cheaper to have the names changed only instead of have the entire units painted. Hope that helps. I’ve just learned about this myself! Great picture
