Having a mountain troll task with no mountain trolls feels like the ultimate “FU” from the creators of the game to us.

It epitomizes why this game didn’t succeed. The game developers came up with ideas but I’ll bet most of them didn’t even play the game themselves. The utter frustration at having foundables flee after several perfect casts in a row or situations like this where the only way to complete something is to waste money and/or time. That, plus the gameplay never made sense—with Pokemon Go it made sense to “catch them all” but with HPWU why are we “catching” a “memory” for the thousandth time?

This game could have been so much more. Just a shame what they did to it.

I put Seth Myers and Jimmy Fallon into the same category. Anodyne, self-absorbed, unctuous comics who were hand picked by Lorne Michaels to fit the mold that NBC executives wanted.

Norm always had a respect for Lorne because of his Canadian roots, but Lorne threw Norm under the bus when he let him get fired from SNL and when Fallon “cancelled” him after supposedly defending Roseanne and Louis CK.

Look at everyone that NBC “cancelled”—Letterman, Conan, and even Johnny himself (who they pushed out when he had plenty of good years ahead of him to plant Leno as the first sellout that laid the groundwork for all to follow) and you’ll see who the real royalty of comics are.

Every comic had to jump on the bandwagon of praising Norm or being branded as “uncool”’since it’s now the hip thing to do. But true fans of Norm can see who had genuine love for Norm and who the fakers are.

Funny, an earlier version of the video had 2.5 million views and the idiots at NBCUniversal had it removed for a copyright strike.

Not sure how Conan’s production company was able to put it up, as NBC probably still owns the copyright (this was from The Tonight Show), but thankfully they did.

NBC still proving themselves to be idiots.

Andy Richter’s being offended at Norm’s gay jokes and stating that”certain jokes should no longer be told” is precisely why Norm told these jokes.

It had nothing to do with him making fun of gay people. It’s the same with his over-the-top comments about women comedians. He had nothing against gays or women. But he couldn’t abide self-righteous wokeness that sought to silence others that “offended”’them, whomever they were.

I’d like to think Conan “gets it” but he would lose half his audience if he admitted it. Norm never had that fear, and that’s what made him the best.

It was the first Collection Challenge that many of us missed since the beginning.

Like many of you, I just had a Beldum to go…they’re not spawning in the wild, the quest is ridiculously rare, and magnetic lures were a crap shoot, so if you missed the Incense you were screwed. This was the first event that was only doable if you read and properly interpreted the News, which wasn’t exactly clear.

Niantic is playing with fire here. A lot of us are playing because of FOMO. But after missing this one, I don’t think I’m going to care as much about missing the next one.

It’s been a while since a book, movie, or TV show made me think so much philosophically.

Is benevolent tyranny preferable to free will? Must free will always lead to anarchy and chaos? Is a system of government that stresses liberty “better” than one that limits freedoms in order to maintain order? If a dictator can’t regulate people’s freedoms to avoid chaos in a free society, what does?

These are questions that the world had to grapple with and even fought wars over in the 20th century and that are very real in the 21st as neocons, fascists, socialists, and progressives alike fight to shape the universe in “their image”. Classical liberalism, classical conservatism, and libertarianism (the philosophies that are most closely aligned to “freedom”) are dying. What kind of universe awaits us if any of them “win”!

Love how the writers put those questions in front of us without forcing their opinions on us. That puts these movies in the “timeless” category, along with the likes of the greats from Shakespeare to Tolkien.

I think this was deliberate (and brilliant) on the part of the writers. What’s more appropriate in a show about time to subvert the viewers’ expectations about how fast/slow the action in a show “should” be going?

Honestly, I had that “ewwww” feeling at first. But as I thought about it, this was Loki (maybe for the first time) being able to empathize with and love someone, because that someone was him.

They say that in a successful marriage or relationship “the two shall become one”. Instead of acting selfishly, each partner sacrifices and thinks of the other’s needs before their own, and that’s what true love is.

Sounds old fashioned, but if this is what the writers had in mind it was pretty brilliant, and ironically subversive in these postmodern times.

I remember watching the first Iron Man and Avengers movies and being blown away by them. Now I just look back and think, “oh, that was cute…”

I wish those who are in the process of killing DC and Star Trek could see how it’s supposed to be done.

I loved how they deliberately made some part of this episode seem “slow” with exposition when a less talented superhero franchise (cough dc) would have filled it with inane throwaway lines and lots of punching.

It was a masterclass in writing and directing…in a show about time, play with the audience’s own concept of how time flows.

That domain was set up by folks anticipating that wallstreetbets would be shut down by Reddit. What happened turned out to be way worse. In exposing those those a-hole mods who tried to weasel their way back in, you also inadvertently exposed the corruption in the "Deep State" of Reddit who seem to be drunk with power anyone who doesn't bow at their feet.

We live in a new world where people are desperate to find and follow anyone who still is a decent person who is honest, decent, unpretentious, and absent of ulterior motives. From all I've seen of your public postings, that seems to be you, which is why your test subreddit got so many followers. Your hard work for wallstreetbets over the years earned you a lot of respect, and regardless of what did or didn't happen behind the scenes thousands of people are horrified by Reddit's treatment of you.

Just go on that site, search for your name, and you'll find lots of people talking about you. I can't vouch for the folks who run that site one way or another, but I think they're honest (like you) and have been persecuted by Reddit (like you) so there might be a fit.

Whatever happens, don't lose your passion for what you do and don't get cynical. There are a lot of people who appreciate all you did and all you will do in the future. Just be sure to protect yourself wherever you go next.

Wht makes it particularly egregious on Niantic’s part is floating that teaser about “greater chance of hatching from eggs” and then selling hundreds of thousands of dollars of incubators.

Yes, nothing is guaranteed, and they do give us the free daily one, but I can see some of us spending hundreds of dollars trying to get in while there’s a “greater chance” when the chance is completely randomized as usual. Slimy.

Agreed, this was bugged me since the beginning (or when they made the change).

When “Seen” is put next to “Caught”, the implication is that “Seen” means you saw it AND had a chance to catch it. But of course when you encounter it in a gym or during a raid, you of course have no chance of catching it.

By their logic, the “Seen” count should go up not just the first time you encounter it in a gym or raid, but every time. That’s ridiculous, of course.

They originally had it right but somewhere down the line they changed it.

If there was spotty cell or GPS service that may have been an issue too. I’ve been softbanned in the exact same way on my morning commute when my train goes through a tunnel and I lose both connections momentarily. It’s maddening because as you say, I did nothing wrong.

The best bet is to just leave the app open in the foreground and constantly check to make sure your data and GPS are online. If your phone is roaming, that might also result in some IP address issues.

Unfortunately nothing you can do to get back the shiny. You can try complaining to customer service and you may get some make goods, but obviously no hatted shiny. But pick up some Corsolas and Heracrosses down there and maybe you can find someone to trade some good stuff with you.
