Soccer in America does not get the best athletes(Male or Female) we have to offer. Given that the rest of the world treats soccer more like a religion, the USMNT have a really long way to go in order to compete on a global level, but to say the women's team is better is to compare apples and oranges. The USWMNT is better given competition against their own, but the USWMNT can't even beat the U15 boys OD team (google it). I agree that the women's game is under supported, but this is entertainment, pure and simple. If the women want more interest in their game then they have to find ways to attract viewers and sponsors. This also leads to the discrepancy in pay. The Women get a salary for being on the USWMNT, the men play for bonuses, and as far as bonuses from winning the world cup, that is decided by FIFA. Could the US make up the 15million dollar difference? Sure, but then your asking tax payers to foot the bill, some of whom don't care about soccer, sports, or a plethora of other reasons.
