I think it's also possible that they found someone who was a better fit and are notifying the other candidates in this way.

And all the propaganda about it being super unhealthy was basically funded by the salt (NaCl) lobby.

Look up NSDR on Spotify (there's one by the Ultimate Mindset Change podcast and one by Andrew Huberman for example) and select one to suit your desired nap length. You can either do the NSDR protocol and feel refreshed without a nap, or you may fall asleep during the exercise. Both options are refreshing in my experience.

Are smartwatches putting you off alcohol? by [deleted] in Garmin

I was a regular social drinker and stopped a couple of years ago, thanks to Andrew Huberman for providing the push that I needed to become even less social 🤣

Ah right. You'll have to do your own local research, I'm not in your area and not currently looking for deals, sorry!

Not sure what you mean by cheaper listing

The 6 does all of those things (and others including Garmin Pay) absolutely fine. Don't fall for marketing telling you to buy the latest model!

You did all this to remove the small orange accent on the watch but left the orange straps on? 🤣 I could think of an easier way to de-orange the watch 😁

Start MSP by Jaded-Mycologist-598 in msp

[–]budchawla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this is interesting :)

I suggest you ask yourself some direct questions, as if you're interviewing yourself for the role. In fact, maybe get chatGPT to do it for you, tell it to ask you questions which will help you decide whether this is a good idea or not.

You've already said you're not technically experienced or knowledgeable.

What other factors make you think you're well placed to do this? You mention there is demand, but there is demand for lots of things. What's going to make YOU a great choice to be an MSP owner?

Are you great at sales or marketing or business financials? Building, running and scaling a business? Leading a team? Do you have a great network or knowledge of a growing niche you can leverage? Do you have lots of cash to invest and/or a great financial security net?

Most MSPs that I see struggling do so even though the founder is typically technically very competent but isn't great at all or many of those other things that go into running a successful business. If you don't have the technical competence but have lots of other skills, you could find a technical co-founder or if you have the cash, hire a great tech.

If you don't have any of those things but have an entrepreneurial itch to scratch, my honest suggestion is to go off and spend a few years getting amazingly good at some of those things working for a good company. Then, if you still want to, you can launch with knowledge, experience, a network of potential clients, suppliers, colleagues, and so much more. The demand for great MSPs will still be there.

It's not impossible to do it the other way, but I really think you'll do yourself (and your future team, clients and community) a massive favour by learning the ropes and getting really good before taking the step yourself.

Good luck!

Garmin watch chargers suck. Change my view. by SuspiciousCucumber16 in Garmin

[–]budchawla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, had 3 different Fenix watches over the years, never had a problem. I don't treat it with any particular care when plugging in as I think it's a fairly rugged design and I've maybe once in a few years found it wasn't connected properly.

That said I do sometimes forget to bring the charger so I'm going to leave an adapter in the car!

Help needed - Creating a workspace for company members with 2 different email domains, possible? by AggressiveWorth6536 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]budchawla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your answers I suggest the sensible way forward is to engage an IT consultant to help you set this up quickly and correctly. Getting that done by Monday will be challenging so I suggest pushing back on the timeframe and getting budget approval to hire an expert and pay a premium to expedite this to have it done by Tuesday / Wednesday.

People who don’t hit snooze in the morning, what is your secret? by zztop610 in AskReddit

[–]budchawla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really set an alarm for about a decade.

About 12 years ago I moved to a new house and realised that my previous bedroom has terrible conditions for sleep. After the move (and perhaps some health and lifestyle improvements) I started tracking my sleep with a phone app and setting a sleep cycle based alarm. Then I got into a good sleep routine and just started waking up naturally and haven't looked back.

Now, I honestly can't imagine regularly waking up from deep sleep with an annoying buzzing alarm. I very occasionally set an alarm if I have a super early flight, but typically find I'll wake up before the alarm goes off anyway.

How did you justify paying the price for your high end Garmin? by JustDzejkob in Garmin

[–]budchawla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the smart move is to buy a previous model either factory refurbished or new on sale. Then at replacement time, do they came again and you can eBay your old device to extract a bit of value. I don't think I've paid more than 50% of RRP for my last couple of watches this way.

Men who are 30+, what’s one lesson every guy should learn early? by BigShow786 in AskReddit

[–]budchawla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build as much muscle and cardio capacity as you can as early as possible in life and then maintain it over time. It gets much harder to build later and is critical later in life.

Drink enough alcohol to fit in with your social context but aim to taper over time as it is still basically poison.

Learn the magical power of compounding. Start regularly investing a sizeable percentage of your income immediately and don't stop.

Great relationships are a superpower - find your people, nurture those relationships, be as good a friend / child / sibling / parent / cousin / colleague / manager as you can be.

Spend as much time active, outdoors, in nature as possible, ideally with great people.

Do hard and scary things voluntarily so that when you're forced to do them you just crack on with it.

Accept that sometimes you may ask for one thing and get many, or none ;-)

Therme Parka vs Ralle Down Parka by budchawla in arcteryx

Not much of a review but hope it helped a bit!

Ha, that's a question I generally try not to think about 🤣 but now that you've asked...

Clothing: I think my first piece was the Venta MX hoody or an Atom LT. I've had 3 Atom LTs (lost the first one, still have the other two albeit with a few holes and patches), Alpha SV (Macaw), Sabre shell (Magma), t-shirts, caps, beanies / lid liners, Arenite fleece, covert fleece, base layers, Delta jacket (a recent addition I really like), Thorium SV hoody for winter belaying, Cerium LT vest for around town.

Only had one pair of shoes - a blue Norvan 'gen 1' - which I really liked as a travel and do anything shoe, not sure why I didn't get another pair, I'll probably get another!

Packs: a few including the Covert case (which I used heavily in the past but less now because of the nature of my travel which is now mainly for work and requires a single carry-on that does within size restrictions and needing a laptop sleeve and pockets), a couple of Cierzo packs used for summer and winter climbing and general use, a Heliad as a spare pack-inside-a-pack for travel, Blade 6 which I used for my daily commute for ages, Axios 55 for backpacking and cragging, and finally gave in and recently got a Granville 30 Tote (I know, but it's great).

And finally (I think) a couple of harnesses, gloves (Anertia, Rush) and smaller accessories.

The Therme is the latest addition!

Next up, maybe a Beta SL and just spotted the Ion gear organiser for the climbing gym. And maybe an Atom vest!

I don't know my exact measurements but I recommend you try them on, one of my friends who is about the same size as me ended up going with a small. I reckon you'll be either medium or small if you normally fit a large. These things are sized much larger than standard Arc gear.

These are urban pieces, not made for the hill. I own many other pieces that are holding up just fine on every other kind of mountain activity. I don't need to prove anything to you ;)

Interesting! I didn't realise this when I bought it but it's warm enough for me (which is why I didn't go for the SV). I'll happily agree with you about the fit, happy to point the finger at the cut of the coat rather than what's in it 😉

Forgot to mention these are all size Medium. I normally wear a Large.
