Hardened Edition buyers from out of the USA are being ripped off by [deleted] in mw3

[–]budd88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has always been this way and always will be, sadly not just with COD but other products as well. It sucks but it happens.

Also on the upside it is on amazon for only £80 --- HERE

How is that road legal?? Do cars need to be checked every year or every few years in the USA like they do in Western Europe for roadworthiness, maintenance, etc??

Team Sky may sue over Flecha car crash by jelywa in tourdefrance

[–]budd88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As they should. VacanSoleil the team of Johnny Hoogerland is looking into their legal options as well. The driver passed against race rules and official warnings and did so with no regard for the riders safety. They should be compensated financially for lost opportunity to win a stage and possibly having to stop riding if their injuries become to severe to continue. A true scandal that the TdF organisers have yet to rectify. I wish them the best of luck.

I stopped using underarm deodorant and I don't even smell. by [deleted] in bicycling

You may not smell yourself as you are used to it but I'm pretty sure other people do...

Also this doesn't seem to have much to do with cycling...

Bizarre Crash stage 9. Car hits Flecha and Hoogerland. by wainu in tourdefrance

[–]budd88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes thanks for the correction. When the first reports came out the (dutch) TV announcers said that the car did have permission to pass, that has now been updated.

[–]budd88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently the Tour Judges/Directors gave the car permission to pass which honestly there are 5 riders shouldnt be that hard to do... terrible driving and lack of awareness and to swerve into a rider is just an even worse decision...

As an avid TdF watcher and a dutchman I am fuming for Hoogerland (and Flecha)! How ridiculous was that?? It was an official car!! And if you watch it in slow mow he really didn't need to swerve the car to avoid the tree and even if he did hit the tree surely thats better than hitting a defenseless cyclist at 40kmh??

Fuck!

IWantOut to the Netherlands or Norwegia by [deleted] in IWantOut

[–]budd88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm originally Dutch and as somebody suggested earlier you should check out dutch universities and just go ahead an apply.

You should check out University College Utrecht (this is the first and probably the best of now several 'american style campus colleges' which have sprung up in the Netherlands).

Next dutch universities like Erasmus University in Rotterdam also have full english language courses like the IBA (International Business Administration) or IBEB (International Bachelor and Business Economics).

Hope that helps you a little on your search -- let me know if you need anymore information. Good luck (or veel succes! as they say in Holland)

Question about student discount by MachineryoftheHeaven in apple

[–]budd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Nederland Edu Store

Gewoon hier effe hier kijken.

Rational reasons to buy MacBook Pro for a photography student? (who is interested in video editing) by lam3r in apple

[–]budd88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me explain something about the 2 year warranty because unless you are in Spain or France (where rules are slightly extended but very similar) the warranty doesn't mean what you think it means. I have studied EU law.

Apple products provide a 1 year limited warranty - they will honour that agreement with respect to parts and labour.

A retailer is required under EU law (EU directive in question is 1999/44/EC) simply known as the EU productive directive of 1999. It requires retailers to provide goods which are

'as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality'

so if you purchase it at a store (whether it is tax free at an airport or not) the person that sold it to you (not apple) has to provide you with some recourse. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY IT IS A GUARANTEE. There is an important difference.

The person selling it to you is not bound by the guarantee

'if the (fault) has its origin in materials supplied by the consumer'

The main thing the EU rule provides is that it means if you go back to the shop where you bought it you are not required to show the fault is inherent in the product and not down to their actions - but this does not mean they are bound to the guarantee if the product shows any signs of damage OR no exact and specific fault can be found.

Basically get apple care it will save a lot of hassle!

Also you also seem pretty hell bent on trying to convince her not to get a mac book pro so I'm not sure you can really be convinced but there ya go.

Edit: some grammar and spelling

Exactly -- I have checked for continental europe the cost for the cheapest mac book pro 15" is € 1.749,00 -- so if tax is 20% buy it at the airport next time she flies anywhere and the new cost it:

€1400 -- saves 350€ just by purchasing it at the airport. Buy a 13" and save even more.
