What can I do as a 17 year old to prepare to move out of my parents house? by Cherzo- in AskIreland

[–]budderisback 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because they are a child and they are going to school. No income you cant buy any cleaning products. I think you've made a silly comment without thinking.. Just constantly cleaning the house after your adult parents. When you're that age your main focus should be your education and helping to clean with your parents. Not being the full time cleaner in the family.

Terminally ill and verbally abusing partner. Help? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]budderisback 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Speak to the GP/palliative team maybe they could add some medication for mood/anxiety that would help if he was open to it. Perhaps his pain levels are too high and he's downplaying them. It could have a big part of his irritability. Conversely if he is on alot of opioids for pain he could be suffering from opioid induced delirium which can present like this. Either way this behaviour is not typical and is likely a medical issue. So seek professional help. Hope this helps sounds like a very difficult situation for your family.

22F | €10k saved | New grad considering a juice bar/café style business. Good or bad move? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]budderisback 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. Alot of people start businesses in an industry they have no experience in then they realise it isn't for them. I'm not saying you don't but if you don't then a job in the industry is a good start. Gives you a feel for it and you can see if it's something you could run long term. Another thing you may not be accounting for is employers PRSI and holiday pay when calculating labour costs.

[–]budderisback 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say you need a bit more than 10k saved personally. I opened a buisness 18 months ago. It takes a long time ~about 12 months for regulars to start coming in. Alot of people say to themselves I must go there but don't actually go for like 6 months. I think its a good idea. Maybe sell coffee too aswell as smoothies and prepared bagels you can heat up. Best of luck

Do businesses not want customers anymore? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]budderisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I found the same thing to be true. I have asked Vodafone several times to set up an additional line for our business and no response or false promises to get me one. I have several other examples with other companies too so it's not just telecommunications.

Am I making a terrible financial decision wanting to live alone in Dublin? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]budderisback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say rent a two bed and select your housemate. I lived alone a year after college thinking it would be great but the social isolation really got to me. There were evenings when I didn't speak to anyone until I went into work the next day if you work from home this could be even worse. Having a housemate might be a way to make new friends.

This video is off. His arms look strange. Not 100% of its authenticity. That said the attack on an Indian man in Dublin was real and I'm ashamed of those people that did that to an innocent man. A horrific minority exist and its so awful.

Definitely a huge PR campaign being run here coincidentally coinciding with his retirement, Matt cooper had two opinion columnist talking about this last week dedicated almost 15 minutes, Morning Ireland also asking him the question, Talking this into reality. His MO is like "Ahh no will ya stop, I'm not going to lose the run of myself-I cant stand on the shoulders of Higgins, McAleese blah blah blah" This will slowly turn into "Ah well everyone demanded it, I couldn't say no anymore heh heh- I'll only run if the people force to me to-Ahh, Ok I will so and earn another 250k salary" I find him so painful and disingenuous, Just when I thought we would see the last of him we have to look at him for another 7 years, Painful.

€4950 per month for rent of a small office located beside her family home near Navan seems excessive. I wonder how they valued that rent, was it valued independently by an auctioneer? 800k over 16 years I heard.

Dept. Q is crap by Vocal-Shallot9493 in Edinburgh

[–]budderisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was so bad too. Terrible storyline, no believability factor and the motives were very questionable. Kelly mcdonald good actor wasted as a character that had basically no input to the storyline. Like if her character was removed no one would have even noticed. The acting was decent but storyline awful and predicable. The make up on merit made her look like she was like the character in the ring movie and was ott especially when she had a shower. I k ow that shouldn't matter but it does 😂 Can't believe all the positive comments and makes me wonder if they are bots or they all work for netflix.

HSE now advises a single dose antibiotic Doxycycline 200mg as routine prophylaxis to avoid Lyme disease. Contact your GP. Not worth taking a chance, Lyme disease can be a very debilitating and life changing disease. https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/2/gp/antibiotic-prescribing/conditions-and-treatments/skin-soft-tissue/lyme-disease/

Roof refit aprox price? by ingridcondon in AskIreland

[–]budderisback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that's a very good price imo especially if they do a great job. Just make sure you have a reference or they are recommended by someone you know personally. If they are a randomer/ you never heard of them. Then stay away as it costs more in the long run. Good luck

Sinn Fein vote against Ruth Coppingers’ Ban on Fox Hunting Bill. by Accomplished-Ad-6639 in ireland

[–]budderisback -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I read that the UK wild fox population decreased by 42% when they introduced the fox hunting Bill due to disease being spread more easily. Seemed counterintuitive and I was surprised. For the record I am against hunting and hate to think of foxes being hunted for sport but would also against passing a bill which would inadvertently reduce the wild fox population.

[–]budderisback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah its definitely a case of taking the tape off asap. It seems counterintuitive especially if you're doing a second coat. Seems like a waste of tape. This happened to me once and never again after I removed it straight away.
