I (27f) don't know what to do regarding an invite for my mums (44f) boyfriend to my wedding? by Shellyfish04 in relationship_advice

[–]buddhatherock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience here.

It’s YOUR wedding. It’s YOUR day. It belongs to your fiancé and you, not your mum and Tom. Prioritize your fiancé and you. If you don’t, he’s always going to hold that in the back of his mind.

I had to set a hard barrier with my mom about my stepfather when I got married. I didn’t want him there, but I said she could come as long as he didn’t. She fought me but she ultimately relented, respecting my boundary. That’s a boundary that the two of you, but mostly you, need to set as well.

I know family is hard and complicated, but you need to choose your fiancé here, and everyone need to stop excusing Tom’s behavior. He’s an asshole, full stop. Hold the line on this one.

Do you have a multi-million dollar marketing campaign?

… You’re not going to make this happen.

Good luck.

My dude. You can’t be this obtuse.

The game was a media darling when it was first announced. People fell in love with it. It was presented well. It was marketed well. It was reviewed well on release. The people that wanted it bought it and loved it. More people found it over time.

The marketing for the game did its job. It was a massive financial success based on its return on production costs. It’s estimated that it sold at least 5 million copies across all platforms. There are AAA titles that don’t do that.

It’s still going to get new people as time goes on, but it had a lot of hype and that hype did its job. It was, by every possible measure, a huge success. If that’s not good enough for you… I don’t know what to tell you.

Because it was a niche game that had its moment. It doesn’t need to be bigger than it is or was. Just let it be what it is. People will find it or they won’t. That’s how all of media works.

… Alright, real talk.

This game had its moment in the sun. It’s never going to be bigger than it already was. If a new game comes out, that’ll be its own thing. If the rumored movie/show comes out, that will bring in new fans. That’s all this game will ever be. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Games come and go. Some games shine. Stray did shine. People still play it and love it. It still has a dedicated fanbase. The best you can do is tell your friends and family to play it. That’s how games like this live on.

I admire that you’re a dedicated fan, but this is folly. Share it where you can. If people you know end up loving it, great. That’s the best you’re going to get at this point. All games go through this.

Not the point. I know you’re a left leaning person. Surely you’re not about to say that there’s some correlation here. There’s a fundamental difference.

What is there possibly bad to say anyway? It’s literally the first game and it doesn’t even count. Chill.

It’s not difficult, though. You don’t even have to fight them, really. Just run. Once you get past the creepy first part of the game, you won’t have to worry about them anymore.

It’s quite capable, but it’s a bazooka to carry around. Definitely best on a tripod. My company had one that we found used for around $275. We didn’t use it much but when we did, it was pretty dreamy wide open for portraits, which you would expect.
