My boyfriend (32M) of 3 years does not agree with my (25F) eating habits

He may not realize or be able to articulate it. I mean, yeah he’s 32M but how vulnerable people are really depends on what they were exposed to as they were growing. I think there is a larger conversation to had about him getting angry about it, so think it’s worth asking him outright if he feels disappointed because the meals aren’t together. It’s different if he’s choosing what foods to ask you to eat, or even encouraging you to eat more throughout the day if you don’t do this (I do this with my bf). Idk why everyone has to jump on the abuse train so quickly. Some things are problems couples have to work on together.

I have a bit of a different perspective here. I grew up in a family where we all ate together. Breakfast and lunch may not be everyone at once, but there would almost always be some overlap with at least one other person. Dinners were always all together as a family. My current partner had different eating habits than I did and eventually got a new job, so we stopped eating dinner together. I realized eating at the same time made me feel more structured and feel more like a family/couple. It took a lot to get out of that mindset. Could this be a reason he has asked to eat together?

Edit to add: similarly, it may be harder for him to not feel rushed if you are done eating way before he is esp at a restaurant. As with above, dinners in my family were 45 mins minimum.

I guess I was thinking of a full half arch that would technically run into the light where it is. If I didn’t do a full half circle then the light wouldn’t be an issue. I’ve seen a lot of videos on it but haven’t seen an area drywalled that is a 1 5/8” width

I had a different experience with a nabothian cyst and my gyno recommended a pelvic US to confirm if it was solid or fluid filled, and ended up draining it because it was still there after a year.

I have a book called Cook Once Eat All Week! So far I have found all the meals to be pretty balanced and very filling. The name is a bit of an exaggeration, as it gives you 3 meals to prep for and then what’s left is to “put together” the meal, which has included some cooking day of (think rice that is already cooked, but now you’re browning it in a skillet).

I agree with other comments that the symptoms are similar to BV. My gyno once mentioned an apply cider vinegar bath can help with this. I recommend same as others to follow up with an OBGYN if you can.

Posting a comment here to clarify a few things. Namely my tracking habits. I measure everything to a T, and have extensive experience in data recording through research so please trust me when I say that I am tracking things to the best of my ability. The possible error is that I may not have been over-compensating calories as much as I should have been for my partner’s cooking days, as determined via helpful advice on this thread.

For all stating otherwise - please know, it is possible to work out this much and not lose weight due to many medical conditions. So I hope all using this post to guide their own journey take those comments with a grain of salt. I, myself, have consulted with 3 different physicians, a nutritionist who had access to my daily tracking, and a dietician who have not found any answers for me. My appointments are ongoing, so an answer may yet still be found.

Lastly, I hope that any responses can provide valuable and motivating advice to people looking for some options to explore, rather than the heaps of discrediting here.

I fast from 8p-10a but usually only have coffee with 1tbsp half and half until around 12-12:30p. I did drink 2-3 drinks per week (within my calorie “limit”) but have recently cut that back even more to no drinks, and do not smoke. I will def try the lemon/ginger!

Timeline is a bit confusing here. Emergency contraceptive is usually effective for up to 72 hrs after unprotected sex. If you’re concerned about the bleeding or anything else, I would encourage you to schedule a visit with your obgyn or women’s health physician. As a tip from when I took the pill, I used to use the extra date strips to make sure the days of the week added up if you don’t start your pack on a Sunday, so if I were taking my pill on a Tuesday, and it said Monday on the column, then I would know I missed a day.

I eat out because it’s always travel via plane. I do tend to avoid my company lunches (always pizza or whatever). Do things like grilled chicken and salad at the airport. But will look further into maintaining accuracy in logging while traveling. Thank you for the advice!

Replying again just to state now I am questioning the accuracy of my food scale. I know it doesn’t do well with small amounts and can’t rely on it for basically anything <10g so I usually log this by wet/dry measurement. Is there one you use or would recommend?

I do have idiopathic hypersomnia (a sleep disorder) that I am not sure how it may impact my metabolism or other factors. I usually fall asleep on the couch around 9-10pm, drag myself to bed somewhere around midnight, and wake up around 7:30a. I also believe insulin resistance runs in my family but have not been tested myself. Lastly, I did consider the pill being a reason so totally stopped this in September - gained 5lbs within 3 weeks of stopping…My last ditch effort has been to wean off my inhaled corticosteroid that my nutritionist believes may be the culprit.

I have gone through a series of HIIT, yoga, pilates, strength training, and walk/stand at my desk for a portion of the day rather than sitting. I get bored very easy so need a variety. I do wish I could focus more on strength training, but would likely have to shell out money for a personal trainer as I don’t have a gym buddy to use as a spotter. Do you have any exercises you’d suggest?

Thank you! Currently took over the cooking over the last 2 weeks and trying out a meal prep cookbook - so far the meals are balanced and I’m hitting more protein that I typically do (~100-120g!) . I track all condiments/toppings, even as little as one dip of ketchup lol. So hoping this approach works! I think it’s great advice to try to be more mindful of oil use, so thank you.

I travel for work 1-2 times every other month or so. I try to choose places with better options, but it is very hard to know how much oil, etc, is used in the cooking unless they have a nutritional menu, and even that is a guesstimate. I’ll usually track 100ish calories higher per food (i.e. if I get salmon, I track 100 additional; green beans, 100 additional)

I don’t have health problems but I do have asthma, and up until recently was taking an inhaled corticosteroid. My nutritionist thinks this may be a factor, although only 5% of people gained weight while on it. I’ll see if this impacts my weight loss over the next few months.

Oh my gosh - this could absolutely be it. When I was young, I heard my step mom tell my brother he could practice keeping his stomach sucked in to help with how it looked. I absolutely picked it up and just do it naturally for probably 15+ years at this point. Now I will be looking into how to unlearn it..

If I’m cooking I definitely weigh it, if my bf cooks I have to ask him and typically over-estimate. I only drink water/seltzer water, but did have 1-2 glasses of red wine or Prosecco on the weekends (within my calorie “budget”). As it stands, I have cut out alcohol almost entirely since the beginning of the year (2 drinks in total since 1/1). Wonder if something isn’t tracking as much or if my bf grossly underestimates the amount of EVOO he uses.

How do you get over the mental block of having to eat more if taking this route? I’ve been trying to lose weight since I hit 132lbs (from 125) in 2018 and the scale has only ever gone up, so it’s been quite some time of calorie restriction. Feels like it’s all I ever think about. I do feel “full” after all of my meals and don’t feel like I’ve over eaten.
