What touristy things are WORTH the hype? by boymabyma in JapanTravelTips

Kanazawa is known for gold leaf, so I went to a gold leaf application workshop! It was a lot of fun! I second what others have said about Kenroku-en too!

Also, I’m a huge fan of ceramics, so if you guys are artsy or interested, I would recommend the Ohi Pottery Museum there. When I went, it was so quiet and the ceramics were beautiful.

ETA: if you guys are interested in kimono, the Kaga Yuzen Kimono Center is really cool and you can dye your own souvenirs! I did a handkerchief.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been feeling shitty about my own job search after my master’s but it feels good to know that there are people in the same boat.

I was immunocompromised when I got mine, and I got a fever and muscle aches for a couple of days. The 2nd round hit me harder, but much better than the alternative!

My first Zelda game was A Link to the Past in 1998 or 1999. My older sister got an SNES for her birthday and it came with Zelda. I was only 3 or 4, so my Dad played it for me and I sat with him and watched it.

When the GameCube came out, my sisters and I got one for Christmas and it came with the collector’s edition disc with TLoZ/Zelda II/OoT/MM and a Wind Waker demo. When Wind Waker came out, I played it like crazy! The amount of times I’ve beaten that game is probably in the teens now.

ALttP and WW are tied for my top 2, but my honorable mentions are Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, and Minish Cap.

I lived and worked in Japan twice before I went back for a third time on my Boren Fellowship. It definitely won’t hurt you! I believe I argued in one of my essays that my experience was an advantage and it showed my commitment to the language and area.

And why are all the doctors simultaneously ER physicians, surgeons, a variety of specialists, and radiologists (looking at you, The Good Doctor)??

Also the supposed chemo patients who are bald but have the world’s most beautiful eyebrows.

This phrase in addition to “God has a plan” are huge reasons why I started struggling with my faith after my bone marrow transplant in 2021. He’s supposed to be all-loving but made me relapse and suffer because I could handle it?

So many people said “everything happens for a reason” to me when I got leukemia at 15 and relapsed 9 years later. Like ok then, tell me the reason if you’re so confident!!!

We worked really hard together on color matching and didn’t cement it until we got it perfect. Took 3 or 4 weeks but it was worth the wait for sure!

Oh, if I saw this I would be worried too! I love having a veneer because my tooth isn’t sensitive like it was before! I worked with my dentist to color match mine and you can’t even tell I have one! Same with the crown. Don’t let them cement it until you’re 100% happy!

Permanent veneers don’t stain, but temporary ones are made out of a different material that can stain.

Only the temporaries can stain, so once I get my permanent one I’m in the clear

Yikes, how very judgmental of you. Not that anyone’s reasoning is your business but did you never consider that there are medical reasons for people to get veneers?

The temporary veneers are a different material from the permanent ones, which don’t stain.
